Description

The Field Operations Manager will be responsible for working with Project Management to make sure qualified Field Operations personnel are assigned to meet project requirements. They will work with the Field Operations Director and the other Field Operations Managers to forecast the personnel requirements of projects and ensure the best utilization of department resources. The Field Operations Manager will work with CDB Management and Global Practice Management to make sure that the planned work is delivered safely and on time. The performance of personnel assigned to the Field Operations manager will be monitored to ensure performance is in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth in the Field Operations Guide, HSES Program, and Quality procedures.
  • Understand the Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) Policies and Processes as they affect the company's operations and ensure the requirements are implemented.
  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, training, and policies as well as collaborate with the project team to manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members, contractors, and others as required.
  • Set standards and lead by example in health, safety, quality & environmental management.
  • Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and other incidents.
  • Review and assess project safety, quality, progress, and financials.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Identify, recruit, and hire both CWK and Employee-Owner candidates for Field Operations positions.
  • Work with the HR business partners in managing performance and disciplinary action when required.
  • Lead and motivate a team of employees and CWKs to deliver all aspects of onsite project delivery.
  • Provide assessment and coaching to ensure Field Operations staff are performing to required expectations.
  • Identify and address training opportunities for staff.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to direct reports.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.
  • Forecasting prospective project staffing needs.
  • Produce and update staffing reports for Senior Management.
  • Provide constructability input to project teams.
  • Contribute towards production and review of site and construction procedures to ensure they are practical and aligned to good working practices.
  • Advise project team on the plans for mobilization and demobilization.
  • Conduct periodic site visits and report findings.
  • Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to staff.
  • Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company's policies and processes.
  • Promote best practices and share knowledge across departments.
  • Maintain own levels of skill and knowledge to do the job effectively.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.
  • Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.
  • Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
  • Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 7 years relevant construction experience required.
  • Or additional applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in the industries of aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water is preferred.
  • A basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is preferred.
  • Must be able to meet the company's driving requirements.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification preferred.
