Full Job Description
This position has a full salary range of $70,000 - $110,000 per year with eligibility for a quarterly bonus. Starting salary is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location and experience. The target hiring range for this role is $70,000 - $86,000.

Candidates for this role must live in the Boston, MA area.

Summary

The Field Manager reports to and works closely with the Retail Execution Director team. They are responsible for driving best-in-class retail execution across their region through consistent field presence, store-level relationship building, and hands-on leadership. They coach, develop, and hold their field team accountable to clear expectations and results, while building a strong and engaged team culture. Field Managers use reporting and field insights to identify opportunities, solve problems, and ensure regional priorities are being executed consistently.

Our Field Leadership team works collaboratively across Retail Execution, Business Development, and Brand Experience to turn priorities into action, solve problems quickly, and deliver strong results for our Brand Partners, retailers, and Dirty Hands.

The Field Manager is a people leader who drives results through strong field leadership, coaching, accountability, and regional ownership. The breakdown below reflects the approximate share of time and focus across the role and may flex based on team structure, staffing needs, hiring activity, market priorities, and business needs.

Leading Field Execution / Team and Brand Ride-Alongs

  • Spend the majority of the week in market, running ride-alongs with the field team to observe execution, coach in real time, and reinforce strong behaviors and execution standards.
  • Facilitate ride-alongs with Brand Partners throughout regional accounts, building relationships that strengthen Brand Partner confidence in Dirty Hands.
  • Conduct store visits and audits to identify execution gaps, coaching opportunities, and store-level relationship opportunities before they show up in the data.
  • Own and grow store-level relationships across the region.
  • Proactively identify execution risks and opportunities in the market, taking action and bringing forward solutions when additional support is needed.

Team Coaching & Performance Management

  • Lead one-on-ones and team calls that establish clear goals and expectations, deliver consistent feedback, and support individual development.
  • Own performance management, including annual and merit reviews, self-assessments, and documented feedback throughout the year.
  • Partner with the Field Director or Associate Field Director on corrective action and performance documentation, ensuring conversations are timely, consistent, and well supported.
  • Actively coach every member of the team and build a bench of future leaders, including positioning an Associate Field Manager, where one is on the team, for growth into a future Field Manager role.
  • Build and maintain a strong regional team culture centered around engagement, accountability, collaboration, recognition, and results.
  • Lead and engage team members effectively across a geographically dispersed market, maintaining strong communication, connection, and accountability.

Reviewing Reporting & Ensuring Data Integrity

  • Review store visit, execution, and audit data through our retail execution platforms to identify gaps, ensure field reporting accuracy, and drive accountability across the region.
  • Use historical missions, audits, and execution results to identify patterns, coaching opportunities, and improvement over time.
  • Set, track, and report on brand-specific and quarterly account goals with necessary stakeholders.
  • Use data alongside field observations to understand market performance and determine where additional coaching, attention, or action is needed.

Communication, Collaboration & Stakeholder Calls

  • Maintain consistent communication with the team to drive execution against regional, retailer, and Brand Partner priorities.
  • Serve as a key communication link between the Retail Execution Director team, Brand Experience, Business Development, and the field team, ensuring priorities and relevant field insights move effectively in both directions.
  • Represent the market on regional and cross-functional calls, including Brand Partner priority calls and Field Leadership calls, bringing relevant insights, risks, opportunities, and wins back to the broader Retail Execution team.
  • Communicate emerging challenges and support needs proactively, while bringing forward potential solutions whenever possible.

People & Regional Operations

  • Recruit, interview, and onboard new field team members, including participating in and hosting panel interviews for internal promotions.
  • Train new hires on execution standards, systems, expectations, and Dirty Hands culture, helping them ramp to full productivity quickly.
  • Provide continued coaching and field support beyond initial onboarding to reinforce expectations and ensure successful integration into the team.
  • Complete approvals, expense reporting, scheduling, and other required administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Review regional roster, org chart, and systems information for accuracy and communicate needed updates to the appropriate partners.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 3+ years of team management or people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and employee development.
  • 2+ years of merchandising, retail, and/or sales experience.
  • 2+ years of retail industry experience preferred.
  • Experience successfully leading and engaging a geographically dispersed or remote field team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, engage, develop, and hold a team accountable to results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, take ownership, and move solutions forward.
  • Comfortable working across modern business and technology platforms, including Google Workspace, Airtable, AI-enabled tools, CRM/retail execution platforms, and other evolving systems used to manage communication, reporting, and field execution.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly as technology, systems, and business needs evolve.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, proof of current auto insurance, and be able to drive for extended periods of time.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to standing, bending, squatting, reaching, repetitive motion, and lifting 40-50 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work in extremely cold environmental conditions, including refrigerated and freezer sections of retail stores.
  • Ability to make weekly store visits with the team 3-4 days per week.
  • Overnight travel could be up to 40% depending on territory and business needs.
