Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.

Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. We're seeking an experienced candidate to be the Field Engineer - Mechanical on the project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award

Job Summary:

In this role as Field Engineer - Mechanical, you will provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging
  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.

Material Management
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.

Quantities
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Technical
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities

System Turnover Coordinator

For Direct Hire
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.

STR / Subcontract Coordinator
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans,
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, tanks & vessels and centerline equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of piping installation and interface with Mechanical equipment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Well developed communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and Quality.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Prior experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) is preferred.
  • Experience with Simple Cycle or Combined Cycle facilities is preferred.
