Position Overview

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Engineering Team that is focused on the carbon-free technologies. As a Field Engineer, you will report directly to the Project Manager. As a Field Engineer, you will be expected to be a job-site leader in health and safety, ensuring quality of reporting and workmanship, and that all engineering work is completed in a professional and ethical manner. The Field Engineer serves as a key member of the project team, supporting construction execution, project controls, safety, quality, contract administration, and field operations on DOE and advanced nuclear projects. Reporting directly to Project Management, this role acts as the link between engineering, construction, subcontractors, and project leadership while helping ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.

Location

This position is located in Aiken, SC, on an active DOE construction site. Daily attendance on site is required. This is NOT a remote or hybrid opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Field Operations
    • Interpret drawings and specifications for construction crews.
    • Support field layout, surveying, and as-built documentation.
    • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
    • Assist with work packages, quantity tracking, scheduling, and production reporting.
    • Lead and participate in safety meetings, JHAs, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety reviews.
    • Supervise daily field operations and support craft workforce execution.

    Project Controls & Administration
    • Maintain RFIs, daily reports, project correspondence, and project records.
    • Support schedule updates, cost tracking, and job-cost reporting.
    • Assist with change orders, contract administration, and project documentation.
    • Support procurement activities, purchase orders, and subcontract administration.

    Estimating Support
    • Perform quantity takeoffs and review plans and specifications.
    • Analyze project risks and historical cost data.
    • Assist with bid preparation and estimate development.

    • Willingness to travel and relocate throughout the Southeast and Northwest as needed (SC, TN, ID).
    • US Citizenship required, and ability to pass a security background check to obtain a facility access badge
