Project Overview:The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
The Cheyenne CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
Job Summary:The Hydrotesting Field Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting hydrotesting, pressure testing, flushing, and system turnover activities. The role interfaces with Engineering, Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams to ensure testing activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and turnover requirements. #LI-RM1
Major Responsibilities:- Develop and manage hydrotest packages, procedures, and testing documentation
- Coordinate system readiness with Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams
- Plan, track, and report hydrotesting progress and forecasts
- Verify test boundaries, temporary systems, and testing equipment
- Witness hydrotests and ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements
- Support punch list resolution, reinstatement activities, and system turnover
- Coordinate technical solutions with Engineering, Subcontractors, and Field Supervision
- Maintain accurate testing records and turnover documentation
- Support hydrotesting schedules, work packaging, resource planning, and turnover milestones
- Coordinate testing priorities with Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams
- Monitor progress and identify constraints affecting testing and system completion activities
- Ensure compliance with the project's Zero Accident Philosophy, approved procedures, and quality requirements
- Verify hydrotesting activities are performed safely and meet project specifications, industry codes, and testing standards
- Support quality inspections, test acceptance, and turnover requirements
- Review hydrotest packages, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and testing procedures
- Provide technical support for hydrotesting, system completion, and turnover activities
- Coordinate resolution of field technical issues with Engineering, Construction, Quality, and Commissioning organizations
Education and Experience Requirements:- Typically requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Experience in hydrotesting, pressure testing, mechanical completion, and system turnover activities on large industrial or EPC projects.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, hydrotest package development, P&IDs, and applicable industry codes and standards.
- Experience with construction automation and completions management systems is preferred.
- Previous Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project experience is preferred.
