Job Title: BIM Engineer / Field Engineer

Job Summary: Supports and coordinates preplanning, layout, and clash detection drawings for the field operations team, and supports the project team and quality control process for Self-Perform Concrete and General Contracting BIM Clash Detection & General Coordination. Responsibilities span BIM Services (quantity takeoff, planning and layout preparation, constructability review, quality assurance development, scope coordination) and Quality Assurance & Quality Control Engineering Services (project set-up and hand-off, QA/QC plan development, formwork design planning and layout, lift drawing development and coordination). Performs routine field inspections during construction to support the field concrete team's execution of the QA/QC program, and supports the project superintendent with materials management, deliveries, logistics, general project organization, safety, documentation, punchlist, inventory, demobilization, and closeout.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform BIM clash detection and general trade coordination across superstructure, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection trades; manage weekly coordination meetings, minutes, RFIs, and correspondence
- Develop concrete lift drawings and formwork design planning; coordinate with geotech, civil, steel, framing, masonry, and other key trades
- Perform constructability review of design documents and provide recommendations
- Collaborate on design planning with Shaw BIM, Shaw Framing Panel Design, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and trade partners; attend internal and external project meetings
- Support survey and layout, including calculating points and loading Trimble stations, setting control in AutoCAD, and coordinating embed, hold-down, and penetration layout
- Translate contract documents and building codes into the Concrete QA/QC project program
- Read and interpret construction documents across all disciplines, including specifications, submittals, and shop drawings
- Coordinate concrete and building layout to establish field dimensions
- Inspect concrete work routinely for code, contract, and QA/QC Plan compliance; document and escalate quality issues
- Support RFI coordination and design/layout solutions for the Concrete Operations team
- Support the Project QA/QC Plan: pre-planning meetings, daily huddles, first-installation inspections, safety and scheduled inspections, and punchlist inspections/corrections
- Coordinate material deliveries, storage, and logistics with the Superintendent and subcontractors; track inventory
- Maintain project documentation (specs, drawings, submittals, RFIs, as-builts) and track labor/material production rates against planned controls
Education/Experience: Four-year college degree in engineering/design, construction management, building construction, or similar preferred. This is an entry-level position within a structured training program, with the expectation of gaining experience and skills as outlined above.
Skills Required: Understanding of general construction practices, document reading, means and methods, and current building codes. Knowledge of concrete systems, formwork, and shoring. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Procore/Autodesk, Navisworks, BIM360, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Trimble, and Tekla. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Training: On-the-job training; OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 a plus); First Aid/CPR; Site-Specific Safety Orientation; Field Layout and Basic Surveying.
Compensation: - Pay Type: Salary
- Pay Range: $75,000-$90,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience
