Job Summary:

The Advanced Science Course (ASC) Director for the University of Colorado School of Medicine at Colorado State University Branch Campus is responsible for working with faculty on the Anschutz campus and local SOM personnel and clinical faculty to implement, evaluate, and continuously improve components of the ASC curriculum in which they have scientific expertise.

The position reports to the ASC Course Director at the FCB, and Assistant Dean for Ft Collins Branch Campu

Supervise SOM clinical faculty who teach within the ASC.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure adequate orientation including content, scheduling, assessment, grading, organization and course execution is delivered.
• Ensure syllabi, course materials, schedules, and other content are of high quality, current, posted, easily accessible, and reflect the educational objectives and content being delivered.
• Ensure appropriate course opportunities and availability to meet the needs of students.
• Serve as a resource and communicate in a timely manner with students, administrative staff (especially the course coordinator), and faculty.
• The course director will be responsible for coordinating clinical experiences with preceptors in the community, including recruiting and communicating with volunteer preceptor faculty.
• The course director is responsible for coordinating faculty classroom session teaching, including recruitment and communicating expectations with guest volunteer faculty.
• Be present for classroom sessions in your content area as able.
• Ensure all teaching faculty and students are aware and understand competencies and learning goals.
• Work with the team to identify and support faculty development for preceptors and other liaison
• Modify existing or develop new curricula or methods of delivery based on needs, changing LCME requirements, and as charged by curriculum oversight bodies.
• Review all course evaluations annually and provide individualized feedback to faculty aimed at development of an action plan for changes and improvement for the following academic year.
• Along with the educational specialist, provide data, descriptive information, and reports to communicate content, instructional methods, assessment, and outcomes to support overall UME program and to ensure compliance with LCME standards and other reporting requirements (e.g., Curriculum Inventory).
• Serve as a steward for the ASC curricular content.
• Participate in Advanced Science Course Director routine meetings and annual CQI retreat with Anschutz campus leadership
• Collaborate with course directors on the Anschutz campus to implement curricular comparability
• Collaborate with ASC leadership team to ensure a fair grading process and provide students with information on how grades are determined.
• Support faculty in their grading and feedback process to ensure all students receive fair, and effective formative and summative assessments.
• Ensure all grades are submitted in a timely manner.
• Ensure early identification of students in academic or personal difficulty.
• Refer all students with academic or personal difficulty to the Office of Student Life and work with the Success Team to develop and implement appropriate remediation plans.
• Recruit and develop clinical faculty to teach in the ASC curriculum.
• Provide ongoing feedback, support, and remediation as needed to faculty.
• Assure a professional learning climate.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at our Ft Collins Branch, in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $26,500 as 0.10 FTE salary support plus benefits, up to the educational salary cap of $265,000

Sr. Instructor: $26,500 as 0.10 FTE salary support plus benefits, up to the educational salary cap of $265,000

Assistant Professor: $26,500 as 0.10 FTE salary support plus benefits, up to the educational salary cap of $265,000

Associate Professor: $26,500 as 0.10 FTE salary support plus benefits, up to the educational salary cap of $265,000

Professor: $26,500 as 0.10 FTE salary support plus benefits, up to the educational salary cap of $265,000
