Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated, mission-driven Family Practice Physician to serve as Medical Director of our Rural Family Medicine Residency Program. This dual-role position combines comprehensive outpatient clinical care with leadership, teaching, and program development responsibilities.

About the Role

The Family Practice Physician & Medical Director will:
  • Provide full-spectrum family medicine care to a diverse rural population
  • Lead and oversee the Rural Family Medicine Residency Program
  • Supervise and mentor resident physicians and medical students
  • Ensure program compliance with ACGME accreditation standards
  • Promote community engagement and rural health initiatives
  • Collaborate with hospital and clinic leadership on strategic planning


Clinical Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive primary care (pediatrics through geriatrics)
  • Perform in-office procedures as appropriate
  • Participate in shared call schedule
  • Maintain high-quality, patient-centered care standards
  • Support population health and preventative care initiatives


Medical Director Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership for the residency program
  • Develop curriculum and oversee educational programming
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and residents
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards
  • Lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) efforts
  • Serve as liaison between residency program and hospital/health system leadership
  • Participate in recruitment and community outreach efforts


Qualifications

Required:
  • MD or DO degree from accredited institution
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New York State
  • Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Passion for rural and underserved populations

Preferred:
  • Prior residency teaching experience
  • Administrative or leadership training
