Department of Materials Science and Engineering

The University of Michigan

2300 Hayward Street

Ann Arbor, MI 48109-2136

Our selection process:

The selection process will begin on Nov. 15th. We are happy to accept applications after this date and will consider them as best we can. The dates listed in this description are estimates and are provided for transparency.

We hope to generate a "long list" of candidates by the beginning of January that we will look at very carefully. At this point we will contact your list of references and ask for letters of recommendation. We do this because we do not want to ask for a letter unless we are actually considering the applicant. The letters of recommendation will help us develop a short list of candidates who will be invited to participate in a short 15-20 minute Skype interview in January and early February. We hope to invite up to 3 and 4 of these candidates to visit us for an onsite interview in late February and early March. This process may extend into early April.

You will be able to edit your application at any time in the process. However, only updates entered on or before November 15th are guaranteed to be considered.

We will keep the process open until we have filled our position. That means that we will not be rejecting anyone until as long as a year from now. It is very possible that we may reexamine our pool at any time. We wish you success in your application.
