POSITION SUMMARY:

This faculty member will serve as the Chair of the School of Ministry. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Chair serves as the chief administrator of the School of Ministry and the primary liaison between the school and the administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the School of Ministry in program and enrollment growth strategies to serve the Church.
• Teach assigned MACU courses.
• Create, operationalize, and review the vision and mission of the School in collaboration with the School faculty.
• Serve as the administrator of the operations of the School.
• Ensure the School's incorporation of best practices within the discipline.
• Supervise and coordinate program assessment for the School in conjunction with the Dean of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
• Recommend faculty members to teach specific courses.
• Conduct program reviews of School programs.
• Act as an academic advisor to students and monitor the School faculty members' advising.
• Monitor students' admission to and progression through the program, including probation, suspension, and readmission as well as persistence, retention, and completion.
• Monitor School analytics; e.g., persistence, retention, and completion rates; number of students in each program, etc.
• Recommend for employment faculty candidates to the Dean of Faculty.
• Supervise the onboarding of new faculty members in the School.
• Evaluate School faculty members' performances.
• Ensure external program advisory committees are incorporated within the School.
• Is responsible for supervising student employees working within the School.
• Create the annual Strategic Plan/OKRs for the School in collaboration with School faculty members.
• Create the budget needs of the School based on strategic planning and work with the Dean of
• Faculty to develop the final School budget to be presented to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
• Facilitate School partnerships (e.g. CHOG Leadership Focus, Global Methodist Church, etc.)
• Supervise full-time program directors, faculty, and staff.
• Hire program directors and full-time and adjunct faculty.
• Address student issues.
• Serve on the University Admissions Committee.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should possess the following:

• Effective oral and written skills.
• Professional experience in the discipline of church ministry and Christian scholarship (5+ years preferred).
• 10+ years of background in the Church of God (Anderson) required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collegially with faculty and the campus.
• Ability to network with state and national peers.
• Ability to work as part of a team to coordinate and support programs within the department and the University.
• Strong organizational and teaching skills.
• Ability to incorporate appropriate, contemporary technologies and best practices in teaching
• Adherence to the Christian objectives and policies of the University.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Doctorate required; or discipline-associated Master's degree with significant work toward a Doctorate in the Ministry field, with the intent to complete.
• Experience teaching in higher education.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Experience with higher education technologies, including student information and learning management systems.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize university-specific software and technology platforms.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sit, stand, walk, and move throughout campus facilities for meetings, events, and academic functions
• Use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods of time
• Visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus for reading printed and electronic materials
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, or move materials weighing up to 20 pounds
• Maintain the stamina and concentration necessary to manage multiple priorities, attend meetings, and perform executive leadership responsibilities throughout the workday

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position requires regular interaction with faculty, staff, students, trustees, accrediting agencies, and external partners. Work may occasionally occur outside normal business hours to support University events and commencement activities. Limited regional and national travel may be required.
