The FAT Process Engineer owns the design, execution, and continuous improvement of End-of-Line (EOL) and Factory Acceptance Testing processes - the last line of defense ensuring every production unit meets requirements before it ships to a customer site. This role sits at the critical junction between design intent and manufacturing reality, translating validated requirements into repeatable, scalable production test processes, while also serving as a key technical contact during customer-witnessed testing events that directly impact project timelines and customer confidence.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do...
- Test Process Development
- Maintain End-of-Line (EOL) and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures for all BESS product lines.
- Translate design validation requirements and test methods into scalable, repeatable production test sequences.
- Define pass/fail criteria, test sequencing, and traceable data capture requirements for each test station.
- Support onsite audits of customers.
QualificationsYou'll have...
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience developing production test processes for high-voltage battery or power electronics products.
- Familiarity with automated test equipment and data acquisition systems.
Even better, you may have...
- Experience scaling test processes from low-volume pilot production to high-volume manufacturing.
- Six Sigma certification with production/process capability analysis experience.
- Direct experience with stationary BESS end-of-line testing.
- Automated test equipment/PLC systems
- SCADA/data acquisition software
- SPC and yield analysis tools (Minitab, JMP)
- Typical Career Path
- Progression toward Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer, FAT Program Lead, or Supervisor, Quality Assurance.
- Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- This role is primarily performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing, or supplier environment, depending on program needs.
- Occasional work in high-voltage or industrial environments may be required, with appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to support testing, supplier, manufacturing, or customer activities.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
Internal applicants: moving into this role may result in an adjustment to your current compensation based on the posted pay range for this role, taking into consideration your qualifications and other relevant factors.

Company: As Ford establishes a wholly owned subsidiary focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems, this role will initially be employed by Ford and is expected to transition to the subsidiary within one year.
