Job Description:

Position Summary:


Entegris is seeking a highly skilled HVAC / Mechanical Technician to support critical facility systems in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing HVAC and plant utility systems that support stringent environmental, chemical, and process requirements.

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with current safety standards, possess strong controls knowledge, mechanical troubleshooting expertise, and experience working in controlled environments involving hazardous chemicals and specialty gases. This position plays a key role in maintaining system reliability, environmental compliance, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:


•Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and critical utility systems supporting cleanroom operations.
•Ensure environmental control systems meet strict cleanliness, temperature, humidity, and pressure requirements.
•Utilize Building Management Systems / controls platforms for system monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization.

Maintain and troubleshoot:


•Air Handling Units (make-up air units, recirculation, cleanroom AHUs)
•Specialty equipment such as regenerative thermal oxidizers
•Exhaust systems (general, acid exhaust, solvent, and hazardous exhaust systems)
•Boilers and thermal systems
•Chillers and process cooling systems
•Pumps, hydronic loops, and distribution systems
•Respond to on-call and emergency situations, including critical alarms impacting production or safety systems.
•Diagnose and resolve mechanical and control system failures with minimal impact to operations.
•Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance
•Assist in maintaining system redundancy and uptime for critical utilities.
•Document work activities in CMMS and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
•Partner with Engineering, EHS, and Operations to support system upgrades, shutdowns, and continuous improvement efforts.
•Perform light piping installations and modifications (e.g., stainless steel, PVC, or copper) to support system enhancements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:


•Familiarity with current safety practices and standards
•5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing plant environment
•Strong working knowledge of HVAC controls / Building Automation Systems
•Possess or have the ability to acquire an EPA Universal Refrigerant license
•Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting acumen in complex systems
•Experience in cleanroom, semiconductor, life sciences, or critical manufacturing environments.

Working knowledge of:


•Cleanroom air handling and pressurization strategies
•Hazardous exhaust systems and ventilation design
•Boilers, chillers, and central plant operations
•Pumps and fluid systems
•Familiarity with chemical and specialty gas safety practices.
•Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and control schematics.
•Willingness to support on-call rotation and emergency response requirements.
•Strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:


•Experience working in environments with hazardous materials, chemical systems, and gas distribution systems.
•Hands-on experience with cleanroom classifications (ISO standards) and contamination control practices.
•Background in an advanced manufacturing environment.
•Experience with CMMS systems for maintenance tracking.
•Technical certification or degree in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field.
•Ability to perform light piping fabrication and installation.

Work Environment:


•Cleanroom and industrial facility environment requiring use of PPE, gowning protocols, and adherence to strict contamination controls.
•Exposure to mechanical rooms, rooftops, and chemical/gas infrastructure areas.
•May involve working with or around hazardous chemicals and specialty gases in compliance with safety protocols.
•Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, confined space entry, and extended periods on feet.
•Participation in on-call rotation and emergency response is required.
