Job Description We have multiple openings for a
Facility Manager I/II to support the Operations and Business Directorate and/or other organizations, as needed. You will provide highly advanced technical and administrative direction of LLNL facility activities and be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of on-site offices, shops, and scientific and research laboratories. You will be responsible for implementing work control in your assigned facilities, managing facility modifications, and maintaining facility safety documentation. This position is in the Facility Management Division (FMD) within the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department (IEOD) within the Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will- Provide advanced technical and administrative oversight and coordination of LLNL facility activities ensuring facility systems and associated equipment, including building automation systems, the facility heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, fire protection systems, and alarm systems function reliably.
- Maintain awareness of current and future critical tenant facility infrastructure needs. Anticipate facility infrastructure risks and create and implement plans to mitigate the risks.
- Analyze moderately complex data to develop, review, and implement procedures and plans including safety basis documentation, change control forms, facility safety plans, work control documents, roof access plans, and facility project plans.
- Ensure processes and procedures are in place to ensure that chemical and radioactive material inventories remain within facility authorization limits and are consistent with Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) Manual and Laboratory requirements.
- Oversee and evaluate activities performed in the facilities and concur on and release all work conducted in the facility to ensure the work is within the facility safety basis, that work conflicts are avoided, and hazards to occupants or to the facility are identified and controlled.
- Lead regular Management Observations and Inspections and walk-throughs, managing facility related deficiencies and issues to closure, report and/or act on results, identify problems, plan projects to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Provide technical or facility lead direction to facility coordinators, facility logistics coordinators, and craft personnel to complete facility related activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the 336.2 level- Develop, champion, and manage complex facility repair and modification projects and report progress to senior management.
- Direct and evaluate complex technical, infrastructure, or facilities projects and concur on and release all work conducted in the facility to ensure the work is within the facility safety basis, that work conflicts are avoided, and hazards to occupants or to the facility are identified and controlled.
- Provide highly advanced technical leadership, facility-management direction, and formal supervision to facility coordinators, facility logistics coordinators, craft personnel, and other assigned staff to complete facility-related activities.
Qualifications - Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial technology or other applicable degree or an equivalent combination of education and significant related experience in a relevant engineering or technology field.
- High level knowledge and advanced technical skills in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, building automation systems, architecture, and facility utility systems found in office, shop, and laboratory facilities.
- Significant experience in facility management including facility maintenance, or facility operations and in-depth knowledge of interactions and interdependence of facility related systems and program operations/equipment.
- Ability to mentor others through specific on-the-job training related to facility operations, maintenance, work control, safety practices, and facility management, while providing technical guidance and coordinating assigned work.
- High level knowledge of Safety policies and procedures as they apply to offices, shops, and specialized hazardous facilities.
- Experience using computer operating systems and related software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated advanced organizational, decision making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently to accomplish strategic goals.
- Advanced customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact effectively with co-workers, facility tenants, managers, and service providers.
Additional qualifications at the 336.2 level- Extensive experience in facility management including facility maintenance or facility operations, and advanced level knowledge of interactions and interdependence of facility related systems and Program operations/equipment and Facilities Management Certification.
- Ability to mentor and develop personnel through on-the-job training related to facility operations, maintenance, work control, safety practices, and facility management, including the ability to supervise, develop, coach, and evaluate personnel.
- Advanced knowledge of standards, procedures, and techniques related to facilities management.
Qualifications We Desire- Certification in Facilities Management through International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI), or similar certifying organization.
Pay Range $125,310 - $153,444 Annually for the 336.1 level
$151,620 - $185,640 Annually for the 336.2 level
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Position InformationThis is a Career Indefinite position, open to Lab employees and external candidates.
Site 300Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis ).
