Hiring Salary Range: $89,250.00-115,500.00 / year

Job Function:

The Manager, Facility Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight of the execution of enterprise-wide facility operations across Hydro One's diverse portfolio of administrative, operational, and critical infrastructure facilities. This position oversees outsourced facility management partners and service providers, driving operational excellence through strong vendor governance, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role serves as a key escalation point for complex operational, contractual, financial, labour relations, and stakeholder issues, balancing risk management with customer service and business needs.

General Accountabilities:

  • Manage all the company's owned and leased facilities throughout the province, including office buildings, administrative centers, operating facilities and transformer stations. Ensure all relevant municipal and provincial building and fire codes, and health, safety and environmental requirements and regulations are met.
  • Ensure that building systems operate effectively and efficiently, air quality is maintained and that the buildings operate to ensure health, safety and environmental regulations are met. Obtain Ministry of Environment certificates of approval and municipal building permits as necessary.
  • Manage, lead and coordinate the work of building maintenance, information technology, telecommunications and other staff involved in the management of the company's facilities and associated projects.
  • Be accountable for their output, by facilitating the planning and organizing of the group's work, providing advice, guidance and direction as necessary. In conjunction with other staff, develop, implement and maintain detailed work methods for staff, in a working environment, which is consistent with the philosophy and goals of continuous quality improvement.
  • Act as a coach and facilitator to create and sustain a co operative and supportive group environment, actively working with staff to provide training and empower them to attain optimal work performance with a high level of personal responsibility and self-management.
  • Provide day-to-day interpretation and application of the negotiated agreements with bargaining agents as they affect the rights, obligations and working conditions of employees. Make effective recommendations on human resource issues, including hiring, discharge and discipline, and effectively resolve work performance problems. Provide clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback and recognize and reward achievements.
  • Develop maintenance and renovation plans and schedules to ensure the facilities are maintained in excellent operating condition. Develop building/site specific plans and budgets to operate and maintain the facilities effectively. Ensure facilities and accommodations provide a high level of client and occupant satisfaction. Provide timely information to building occupants on accommodation upgrades, services, move plans, long-term space plans and office technologies.
  • Work with senior management to develop forecasts of the company's facility needs and make recommendations on timing of acquisitions, renovations and maintenance activities to maximize the value to the company.
  • Develop building/site long-term and short term plans based on understanding clients' needs, changing technologies and changing regulatory environs. Coordinate renovation and new capital projects in relation to market conditions and cost. Set project schedule and budgets and supervise project construction and office move projects including monitoring of external contractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee & coordinate the work programs and priorities of grounds, site & maintenance staff as it relates to facility management. Work with senior management at the facilities to ensure the work programs are carried out. Develop program monitoring and cost tracking to ensure the budget for each facility is met. Make adjustments where necessary.
  • Evaluate solutions for requests to carry out special analyses, facility, building and site evaluations. Compile estimates, arrange schedules and make recommendations including asset management review of specific facilities.
  • Develop, plan, monitor and control major and minor accommodation and support services projects including budgetary and cost controls providing reports to management.
  • Work with facility owners and suppliers of various facilities systems, products and services to negotiate leases and contracts required to provide integrated workplace services to clients. Administer negotiated contracts and contract changes, work schedules, and requirements for changes to suppliers' systems to maintain compatibility with existing systems or to meet client needs.
  • Ensure safe, efficient and reliable delivery of workplace and support related services. Manage all workplace related services and support services such as mail, printing, courier, executive reception etc, and staff output for office space planning and design, furniture services, conference rooms, office moves, service calls, plant maintenance and housekeeping functions.
  • Lead and coordinate workplace moves and reconfigurations and work with other stakeholder groups such as Information Technology, Construction, Facility Services, Security, etc.
  • Arrange for and administer internal and external contracting services including those related to renovations and new capital projects, moves, workplace services, furniture services, etc.
  • Participate in the monitoring and reporting of customer satisfaction with the effectiveness and efficiency of the building services provided. Utilize various methods to obtain this information, such as periodic surveys, questionnaires, post move audits and regular contact with line management

The base salary for this role considers a variety of factors, including candidates' knowledge, skills, experience, education, and any applicable collective agreement requirements for union-represented positions.
