How you’ll make a difference:
The Facilities Supervisor provides leadership to a team responsible for project management, contract coordination, and space planning. Reporting to the Manager, Facility Services & Maintenance, this role oversees a team of professionals focused on project delivery, space planning, and contract coordination, while partnering closely with maintenance leadership to ensure our facilities remain safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
In this role, you will lead the planning and delivery of capital and operating projects, support space planning initiatives across multiple sites, and contribute to the implementation of our long-term asset management strategy. You will help create workplaces that are functional, adaptable, and aligned with the evolving needs of our organization.
As a leader, you will support and develop your team, establish priorities, and foster a collaborative environment where employees can grow and succeed.
Your responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Support
Lead, coach, and support the team, including performance management and employee development.
Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure work is aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
Partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to address operational challenges and identify long-term facility improvements.
Build strong relationships across the organization to understand business needs and translate them into effective facility and space solutions.
Project Management
Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of capital and operating projects that support the organization’s Asset Management Plan.
Ensure projects are appropriately scoped, budgeted, documented, and delivered on schedule and in scope.
Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Support procurement processes, including RFPs, RFQs, vendor selection, and contract management.
Ensure project documentation, asset information, and lessons learned are accurately captured and transitioned to operations.
Space Planning
Develop and implement short and long-term space planning strategies that support operational requirements and workplace needs.
Coordinate office moves, furniture planning, ergonomic accommodations, and space utilization initiatives.
Maintain accurate facility, occupancy, and space data while identifying opportunities to improve workplace efficiency and employee experience.
Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to support continuous improvement in workplace design and planning.
Financial Management
Manage capital and operating budgets, including forecasting, cost estimating, and financial reporting.
Support the development of annual operating budgets and multi-year capital plans.
Monitor project expenditures and provide recommendations to ensure effective use of resources.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure facility projects and operations comply with applicable health, safety, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
Promote sustainability, accessibility, and safe work practices throughout project planning and delivery.
Monitor contractor compliance and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
Your experience and skills:
Post-secondary education in Project Management, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, trade certification and experience may be considered.
Progressive experience managing projects and contracts, preferably within a commercial real estate, property management, or facilities environment.
Several years of experience in facilities management, including preventative maintenance, space planning, contractor management, and building operations.
Minimum three years of leadership experience, including employee development, coaching, performance management, and team development.
Strong understanding of project management, contract administration, budgeting, financial planning, and cost control.
Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project, CMMS/CAFM systems, and project scheduling tools.
Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements and safe work practices.
Demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and sound decision-making skills.
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead change, and drive continuous improvement.
Customer-focused with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
Membership with BOMA (Building Owners & Managers Association) or IFMA (International Facility Managers Association).
Professional designations such as RPA (Real Property Administrator), CPM (Certified Property Manager), NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design) or CFM (Certified Facilities Manager).
Experience with building automation and control systems, including Siemens, Reliable Controls, nLight, and Douglas.

Salary: $100,683 to $125,816 per annum (Salary Grade 13)
Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
