About the position

Duties
As the Facilities Manager at the Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS) in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of this world-class research facility. You will oversee building systems, repairs, and renovation projects; manage service contracts; and lead a multidisciplinary team and contractors to maintain high standards of performance and reliability. Working closely with scientists, technical experts, and operational staff, you'll help sustain a safe, efficient, and innovative environment that supports cutting-edge Arctic research. Located in the heart of the Canadian Arctic, Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, is a vibrant and welcoming community that serves as the operational hub for the Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS). EX1: Experience in facilities management or operational administration, including building maintenance, repairs, and renovation projects.

EX3: Experience planning, coordinating, and overseeing facility-related projects, such as renovations, repairs, or capital improvements.
EX4: Experience ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, building codes, and standards.

ASSET CERTIFICATIONS

A1: Professional certification in a recognized facilities management discipline (e.g., CFM from IFMA)
A2: A degree in facilities management, engineering, business administration, or another related field

ASSET EXPERIENCE

A3: Experience inspecting buildings and infrastructure to assess maintenance or repair needs.
A4: Experience negotiating and managing service contracts (e.g., maintenance, security, cleaning) and evaluating vendor performance.
A5: Experience working in facilities management within one or more of the following environments: scientific research, government, commercial, or industrial facilities.
A6: Experience developing and managing operational budgets, including monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving measures.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE

A7: Knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and structural components.
A8: Knowledge of modern tools and technologies used in facility inspections and maintenance.
A9: Knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics in facilities management.
