Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Facilities Manager located in Manchester, CT.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Facilities Manager is responsible managing, coordinating and directing various teams, functions and project initiatives for the facilities organization, enabling targeted allocation of key resources, developing solutions that support our diverse suite of customers and managing projects that transform facility utilization while ensuring that key collaborative production goals are realized.  Tasks include supervising teams that maintain and transform office, manufacturing, warehouse and exterior areas and equipment, coordinating improvement projects, reviewing layout design and arrangement, as well as managing general housekeeping of the facilities. 

What a typical day looks like:

  • Supervise the maintenance and alteration of operational areas and equipment within the building(s) from a facilities perspective, as well as coordinate projects, layouts and arrangements with various engineering teams.
  • Maintain ownership of condition for all facilities areas, coordinating general work requests and housekeeping on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate various construction trades and contractors, managing their priorities and daily work assignments.
  • Prepare work schedules and expedite workflows when required.
  • Assign duties for subordinates and examine work for conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate purchase orders within budget guidelines and file monthly reports to accounting, corporate, and/or facilities management.
  • Work With EH&S Team on Recycle and Safety issues (Hot work permit process, scheduled recycle pickup, etc). Attend Monthly EHS TCIR reviews with Senior Staff/GM.
  • Oversees facilities safety and training programs, first aid and First Responder program, Hazmat, Lock-out/Tag-out, chemical handling safety, MSDS data sheets, compliance to OSHA regulations.
  • Work with site & customer logistics teams on all deliveries and shipments of equipment.
  • Perform 5S audits across the site and coordinate any action items from a facilities perspective.
  • Controls inter- building communication installations and maintenance including Injection molding machines, CNC machines, and associated equipment.
  • Responsible for timely completion of all preventative maintenance activities.
  • Analyses and standardizes various facilities procedures to improve efficiencies.
  • Defines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible to coordinate, manage, and direct the design, planning, construction, maintenance and alteration of building structures, equipment, machinery, and other facilities infrastructures.
  • Evaluates firm's HVAC systems, computer network wiring, lighting and other factors. Works directly with vendors when required
  • Plans, budgets and schedules various regional facilities modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts and contracts for construction and acquisitions.
  • Develops long range plans, conceptual designs and capital outlay requirements and documentation for various facilities.
  • Supports site audits for all activities related to facilities & maintenance
  • Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental and energy agencies.
  • Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
  • Reviews real estate contracts for compliance with government specifications and suitability for occupancy.
  • Oversees and directs maintenance personnel and workers engaged in facility equipment installation, facilities equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Oversees development and updating of the Disaster Recovery Plan and ensures site readiness.
  • Completes corporate, governmental and site reporting.
  • Responsibilities for all janitorial activities within facilities

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience and training
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as an engineer or project manager; preferred 5 to 8 years of experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Experience in CAD design of building, equipment, and process floor layouts, specifically development of comprehensive 2-D building layouts that incorporate multiple departments or functional areas
  • Experience working in molding or machining environment;
  • Experience working with & debugging injection molding machines and CNC machines required
  • Preferred experience specifying facility infrastructure and design elements based upon manufacturing equipment and process requirements
  • Preferred knowledge of manufacturing operations, exposure to various facilities processes and technologies
  • Experience with MS Project or Smartsheet, or equivalent presentation packages
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude
