Job Summary and QualificationsPosition Summary: Directs all maintenance operations at a health care facility or a group of facilities. Manages all aspects of routine and preventive maintenance at a hospital and off site facilities including management of the physical plant, electrical delivery systems, medical gas delivery systems, emergency generators, and physical plant troubleshooting and project management. Manages the engineering staff including Operations supervisors, tradespersons, electricians, painters, plant engineers, general contractors, journeymen and electrical engineers. Manages the general safety of the hospital life safety and utility systems. Supervises general contractors hired to assist the hospital with renovations, new construction or any modifications to the existing structure(s).
Position Requirements:
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Type of mechanical certification (i.e., stationary engineer, HVAC certification) preferred.
- Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Some college preferred.
- Experience: Eight (8) years supervisory experience as an engineering or construction manager in a hospital similar to SRMC or equivalent experience in the industry, and Ten (10) years experience in hospital maintenance and repair.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have a working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertinent to health care facilities including JCAHO, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, OSHA, EPA and Life Safety. Possess good working knowledge of hospital mechanical systems, HVAC systems, medical gases, building automation, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection and alarms, power plant operation, and excellent computer knowledge.
