About the Role:The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is a vital role among the Operations member of the Finance team, reporting directly to the Controller for North American operations. This position will play an important role in the company's financial performance as we grow in the coming years. As an individual contributor, the AR Clerk collaborates with our Sales, Production, and Shipping teams to ensure proper invoices, customer service, and account retention.
SummaryResponsible for the building and managing a team focused on reliable operation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of all facilities, utilities, and production equipment.
- Hires, develops and manages technicians and other personnel within scope
- Manages contractors, spare parts, and capital projects to support manufacturing, laboratories, and warehousing operations.
- Leads preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure high equipment availability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Acts as Process Owner for all systems and ERP configuration or projects
- Creates and ensures adherence to relevant budget for department
Managerial tasksLead, train, develop, schedule, and supervise maintenance technicians
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to direct and indirect reports as appropriate
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, labor planning, and overtime control.
- Establish KPIs for uptime, PM compliance, response time, and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with agencies such as EHS, OSHA, EPA, and internal quality systems.
- Review and approve work orders, change controls, deviations, and CAPAs.
- Manage vendor performance, service contracts, and qualification of external service providers.
- Support audits (ISO, internal, customer) and respond to findings.
Operative tasksOversee execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure calibration, validation, and requalification of critical equipment and utilities.
- Coordinate emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Manage CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, or equivalent) for work orders, PMs, and asset history.
- Monitor equipment performance, breakdown trends, and spare parts usage.
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and utilities.
Strategic tasksDevelop and implement long-term maintenance and asset reliability strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement in reliability, cost, and energy efficiency.
- Support capacity expansion, facility upgrades, and capital investment planning.
- Lead root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives.
- Align maintenance strategy with production, quality, and business objectives.
- Identify and implement new technologies for predictive maintenance and automation.
- Represent Maintenance and Facilities on cross-functional or interdepartmental projects
Other tasksEnsure all facilities meet safety, environmental, and building code requirements.
- Support sustainability and energy reduction initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for production planning, validation, and quality improvement.
- Lead emergency preparedness, fire protection, and business continuity planning.
- Support workplace organization (5S) and visual management initiatives.
Obligations and AuthorityAuthority to assign, prioritize, and approve maintenance work.
- Authority to stop equipment or operations that pose safety or quality risks.
- Responsible for compliance with GMP, EHS, and regulatory standards.
- Responsible for maintaining facility and equipment readiness for audits and inspections.
- Authority to select, approve, and manage service providers and spare parts suppliers.
- Accountable for equipment uptime, facility reliability, and maintenance costs.
QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related discipline.
- May be supplemented by equivalent work experience or technical certifications.
Experience- 5-10 years' experience in facilities, utilities, or equipment maintenance in manufacturing, pharma, medical devices, or regulated industries.
- 3+ years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- 3+ years of experience managing workflows via ERP system, preferably SAP
- Experience with GMP, validation, CMMS, and regulatory inspections.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, CMMS, and maintenance analytics tools.

- Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, & work in mechanical rooms & production areas.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours support.
