Job Summary

Expand Energy is seeking an experienced and innovative Geological Advisor to generate high-impact growth opportunities within mature and frontier basins. The candidate will combine a well-rounded technical expertise background with creative and strategic thinking to generate actionable play concepts and prospects to drive future growth for the company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops new exploration concepts by integrating geological, geophysical, petrophysical and geochemical data sets
  • Interprets geological, geophysical, or petrophysical information from sources such as seismic data, well logs, mud logs, core samples, fluid samples, or pressure tests
  • Conducts regional basin-wide assessments of petroleum systems to identify prospective reservoirs
  • Prepares geological maps, cross-sections, charts or reports to characterize potential opportunities
  • Collaborates and works closely within a multidisciplinary team to advance prospective projects to investment decisions
  • Utilizes a strong subsurface knowledge, strategic thinking, economic analysis, risk assessments, and acreage strategies to rank prospects within corporate exploration portfolios
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to management, Business Unit teams and/or members on various technical subsurface matters
  • Researches, anticipates, and introduces new emerging exploration trends, technologies and play analogs across the industry to enhance existing plays and future opportunities
  • Delivers high quality technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to management based on the complete integration of data, project economics and risk analysis


Job Specific Skills

  • Broad multi-basin/multi-play knowledge base with experience in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs
  • Proficient in the subsurface basics i.e., structure, sedimentology, geochemistry, and basin modeling
  • Highly proficient in the petroleum system elements and the workflows involved in exploring for new oil and gas opportunities
  • Proficient in geologic risk analysis, volumetric assessments, and managing geologic uncertainty
  • Experienced at play and prospect generation
  • Skilled at subsurface mapping and well log cross-section generation
  • Proficient in petrophysical outputs and the utilization of the data for prospect generation
  • Well-versed and comfortable utilizing multiple subsurface data types i.e., 2D and 3D seismic, open hole well logs, mud logs, side wall and whole cores, pressure data, geochemical data, production data, well test data
  • Enhanced knowledge of logging tools, measurement and quality control of logging jobs
  • Proficient in utilizing geologic databases and interpretation software with preferred experience using Kingdom
  • Experienced in the development of play entry strategies and a strong understanding for lease acquisitions and terms
  • Highly experienced in economic evaluation of prospects and recommending investment decisions
  • Skilled at making presentations and relating to a technical or non-technical audience


Education

Minimum: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university - Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics or related field (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Engineering, Math, Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions)

Preferred: Master's degree - from accredited university - Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics or related field (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Engineering, Math, Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions)

Experience

Minimum: 12 years related work experience

Preferred: 15+ years related work experience
