JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the efficient and effective management of data assets as well as designing and implementing data management strategy and processes related to acquiring, organizing, storing, integrating, and maintaining data within an organization. Establishes data management strategy, data governance policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the effective and efficient use of data throughout its lifecycle. Oversees implementation of data management tools and technologies. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Design enterprise-level database architecture and standards.
- Develop strategies for scalability, security, and high availability.
- Plan and lead database modernization and migration projects.
- Establish data governance frameworks and policies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Analyze and optimize database performance across platforms.
- Plan for future capacity and resource requirements.
- Implement automation for provisioning and maintenance.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate best practices.
- Work with cross-functional teams on architecture decisions.
- Mentor DBAs and developers on database best practices.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and compliance documentation.

Works to influence parties within and outside of the job area at an operational level regarding policies, procedures and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education - Required
Education - Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. or
- Master’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Experience - Required
- 7 years related work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Required
- Proficiency in relational and cloud database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, and Google Cloud SQL.
- Strong expertise in data modeling and architecture (ER modeling, normalization, schema design) and performance tuning techniques such as query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
- In-depth knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies (clustering, replication, AlwaysOn) and security practices including encryption, auditing, and role-based access control.
- Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, and PL/SQL, as well as infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible for database provisioning.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds DPA) and compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
