Job SummaryAs an Experienced Structural Analysis Engineer at BPMI, you will perform moderately complex critical technical functions to execute the BPMI mission in areas including, but not limited to performing a wide range of engineering tasks related to the analysis, design, and evaluation of structural components and systems, ensuring compliance with NR program and safety standards. This role involves utilizing engineering tools and methods to assess structural integrity and generate technical reports. The Experienced Structural Analysis Engineer works closely with various teams to integrate engineering solutions into broader program goals, while providing technical support for field operations. Additionally, the engineer will assist in the development of project plans and documentation, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and performance targets, and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and technologies.
Essential Duties:- Evaluate and resolve technical issues related to structural systems, ensuring that solutions are aligned with project and safety requirements, while performing delegated responsibilities for assigned tasks with minimal guidance.
- Interface with other program organizations, providing technical support and oversight for field operations, and collaborate with other engineers to ensure the integration of plans, applying knowledge of NAVSEA requirements to assigned tasks, and acting as a lead for portions of the technical work.
- Prepare detailed project plans, ensuring alignment with project goals and schedules, and identify performance measures to track progress and meet required milestones.
- Prepare cost and schedule estimates, track performance measures, and communicate progress to ensure alignment with customer and senior management expectations.
- Conduct analytical evaluations, including the development and application of complex models, and apply system knowledge to solve technical and operational problems
- Prepare revisions to technical manuals, reports, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with NR program quality standards.
- Design, develop, and execute engineering research and design projects, interpreting drawings, specifications, manufacturing process information, inspection, and test procedures to ensure suppliers meet contract requirements.
- Understand and apply BPMI engineering policies and procedures, and resolve emergent issues by identifying root causes and proposing corrective actions.
- Conduct design affordability reviews, prepare cost estimates, and evaluate supplier designs for material suitability, reliability, and integrity.
- Assume technical cognizance of assigned reactor plant components and equipment, structural analysis or materials evaluation and application.
- Conduct technical negotiations with suppliers, perform production reviews, conduct quality surveillance, monitor supplier performance, and approve designs while supporting technical reporting on assigned components and equipment.
- Prepare technical letters to the Government, providing information, recommending approval for technical actions, proposing component procurement, or requesting funding approval.

Minimum Job Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering, or related technical degree, from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Twelve (12) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
