Experienced Mechanical Engineer
Position Description

Cushing Terrell is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team on an on-site basis. In this role, you will lead the design of complex HVAC and plumbing systems for a variety of building types, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, designers, and planners.

Day to day, you will develop HVAC design concepts, conduct site assessments and building engineering analysis, and provide quality control review of mechanical designs produced by others on the team.

Success in this role means producing high-quality, code-compliant mechanical designs, mentoring and leading a team of engineers and drafters to deliver strong construction documents, and being a trusted technical resource within the firm's mechanical engineering practice.
Position Salary Range*

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000 annually.
Required Qualifications**
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in consulting HVAC engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain licensure
  • Proficient in Revit MEP for mechanical design and coordination
  • Ability to design complex HVAC systems, including VAV, DOAS, VRF, data room cooling, and packaged rooftop systems, as well as chilled water and hydronic heating systems, including pipe, pump, duct, and fan sizing and selection
  • Advanced knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation, and mechanical building codes
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with a team of engineers and drafters to produce construction documents
  • Proficient in writing mechanical specifications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience producing 3D coordinated mechanical models in a multidisciplinary BIM environment
  • Skilled in HVAC load modeling software, such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Bluebeam, Revit MEP, and relevant HVAC design software
Preferred Qualifications**
  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems, including domestic hot and cold water and waste and vent systems
  • Advanced understanding of digital temperature control systems and sequences of operation

Position Responsibilities***
