Job Description

The Expanded Learning Instructional Coach is responsible for improving the quality of instruction, staff development, and student outcomes across after-school, before-school, intersession, and summer learning programs. Under the direction of the Expanded Learning Manager, the Instructional Coach provides ongoing coaching, professional development, curriculum support, and program quality monitoring to ensure engaging, high-quality learning experiences for all students.

This position serves as a key instructional leader by developing staff capacity, supporting curriculum implementation, analyzing student data, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Instructional Coach collaborates closely with site leaders, teachers, Expanded Learning staff, and families to ensure students receive meaningful academic and enrichment opportunities that support their overall growth and success.

Essential Job Duties:

Instructional Coaching & Staff Development
  • Conduct regular observations of mentors and provide timely, actionable feedback to improve instructional practices
  • Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities aligned to program goals, curriculum implementation, and student needs
  • Coach staff on classroom management, student engagement strategies, behavior support practices, and instructional delivery
  • Model effective instructional techniques and provide side-by-side coaching when needed
  • Support new staff onboarding, training, and ongoing development
  • Foster a culture of reflection, accountability, and continuous professional growth
  • Serve as a site lead or mentor when operational needs require coverage

Curriculum Implementation & Program Quality
  • Support the implementation of academic, enrichment, physical education, and social-emotional learning curriculum across Expanded Learning programs
  • Ensure lessons are delivered with fidelity and aligned to organizational and program expectations
  • Collaborate with staff to plan engaging, student-centered learning experiences
  • Monitor program quality through classroom observations, data collection, and coaching cycles
  • Support the development and refinement of instructional resources and best practices
  • Assist in planning and implementing summer school and intersession programming

Collaboration & Family Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, staff, students, and families
  • Plan and facilitate family engagement events and activities that promote student success
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between school day and expanded learning programs

Leadership & Program Support
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, training, and evaluations of Expanded Learning staff
  • Serve as an instructional resource and thought partner for site leaders and program staff
  • Attend trainings, workshops, conferences, and professional development opportunities to continue improving your knowledge and skills
  • Complete regular site visits to assess program and safety implementation, program delivery, and implement procedures that will improve services to students in both the Delano and Lost Hills campuses
  • Support special projects, summer programming, and department initiatives as assigned
  • Perform other related duties that support the success of Expanded Learning Programs
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • California Teaching Credential
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in education, expanded learning, youth development, or a related field
  • Demonstrated success supporting student learning and implementing practices that foster engagement, belonging, and positive youth development
  • Experience providing training, mentorship, coaching, or instructional support to staff, peers, or educators
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices, classroom management strategies, and student engagement techniques
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to analyze student and program data to support continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel between program sites as needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
  • Strong leadership skills in planning and implementing activities
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check (including fingerprints) upon official offer and acceptance of a position with WCPA

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in education or a related field
  • Experience in an after-school, expanded learning, or out-of-school-time program
  • Experience facilitating professional development for adults
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience using data to develop targeted academic or behavioral interventions

Working Conditions:
  • Environment: Office environment; fast-paced work, constant interruptions
  • Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, make presentations and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conduct business.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.

Pay Range: $82,340.59 - $122,176.33. Final compensation will depend on skills & experience.

  • Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
