Job Description

Responsibilities

Lead Video Strategy and Story Development
  • Lead the creative and editorial direction for Texas A&M's central video content operation
  • Serve as the executive producer for major video projects, including brand campaigns, institutional storytelling, reputation-building content, research and impact stories, student and former student profiles, presidential and executive communications, national moments, and major university initiatives
  • Identify the stories Texas A&M should tell, why they matter, who they are for, and how they should be shaped for maximum impact
  • Translate university priorities, brand strategy, audience insights, and communications objectives into compelling video concepts, formats, series, and campaigns
  • Ensure video content advances Texas A&M's institutional goals and reflects the university's mission, values, distinctiveness, and national ambition


Produce Exceptional Content
  • Lead the development and production of high-quality video content that is emotionally powerful, visually excellent, strategically clear, and built for the platforms where audiences actually consume content
  • Oversee projects from concept through final delivery, including creative briefs, story development, scripting, interview planning, pre-production, field production, post-production, review, distribution planning, and performance analysis
  • Raise the standard for narrative structure, pacing, interviews, visuals, sound, music, graphics, editing, and overall creative quality
  • Ensure Texas A&M's video storytelling is distinctive, memorable, human, and worthy of the university's scale and impact
  • Guide the production of a range of video formats, including documentary-style storytelling, social video, YouTube content, brand campaigns, executive communications, live event content, paid media assets, rapid-response content, and platform-native series


Lead and Develop the Team
  • Attract, hire, Lead, coach, develop, and expand a team of videographers, editors, producers, and content creators
  • Create a culture of creative excellence, accountability, collaboration, experimentation, and continuous improvement
  • Provide clear creative direction and constructive feedback that improves both the work and the people doing it
  • Help team members grow in storytelling, production judgment, technical skills, creative confidence, platform fluency, and strategic thinking

Build a Modern Video Operation
  • Develop repeatable systems that allow the team to produce high-end signature work and timely platform-native content with clarity, consistency, and speed
  • Create and refine production calendars, workflows, creative review processes, vendor processes, asset management practices, and quality standards
  • Partner closely with brand, social media, digital, earned media, executive communications, colleges, schools, units, athletics, agencies, freelancers, and external partners
  • Manage external production partners, freelancers, agencies, and vendors when needed
  • Ensure video operations are organized, efficient, collaborative, and aligned with the broader priorities of Marketing & Communications


Bring a Distribution and Audience-Growth Mindset
  • Help Texas A&M build a stronger video presence across priority platforms, including YouTube, social media, owned channels, paid media, events, and partner channels
  • Work with social, digital, paid media, earned media, and analytics colleagues to ensure videos are not only produced well, but launched, distributed, measured, and optimized effectively
  • Understand how video titles, thumbnails, hooks, pacing, retention, packaging, search, playlists, series development, publishing cadence, and platform behavior affect performance
  • Help develop recurring formats, series, and platform-native storytelling approaches that grow audience, deepen engagement, and make Texas A&M more memorable to the people it needs to reach
  • Use data and audience insights to improve future creative decisions, distribution strategies, and content performance


Manage Quality, Standards, Budgets, and Compliance
  • Ensure all video content meets Texas A&M brand standards, accessibility standards, copyright requirements, privacy laws, media usage policies, and quality expectations
  • Oversee production budgets, resource allocation, equipment needs, vendor relationships, and project timelines
  • Maintain high standards for digital asset management, storage, tagging, retrieval, rights management, and long-term usability of video assets
  • Ensure video and multimedia projects are delivered on time, on strategy, on brand, and at a high level of quality

Location: College Station

Salary: Commensurate based on selected candidate's experience.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, film, media production, marketing, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Significant progressive experience in video production, content development, storytelling, journalism, documentary production, branded content, marketing, media, entertainment, sports, higher education, agency production, or a related creative field
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex video projects from concept through final delivery
  • Strong portfolio of high-quality video storytelling across multiple formats and platforms
  • Experience leading, mentoring, supervising, or developing creative professionals
  • Excellent editorial judgment, creative instincts, writing ability, production discipline, and visual storytelling skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and production workflows in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong understanding of how video performs across digital, social, and owned platforms
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, faculty experts, students, staff, former students, external partners, and creative colleagues


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as an executive producer, showrunner, senior producer, creative director, head of video, director of content, content strategist, or similar leadership role
  • Experience building, transforming, or scaling a video content team or production operation.
  • Experience with YouTube strategy, audience development, social video, digital programming, recurring content series, or platform-native storytelling
  • Experience producing brand campaigns, documentary features, executive communications, live events, sports content, research storytelling, institutional storytelling, or reputation-building content
  • Experience working in or around higher education, journalism, athletics, agencies, entertainment, public institutions, mission-driven organizations, or large complex brands
  • Familiarity with performance analytics, content testing, platform optimization, content packaging, and audience growth strategies
  • Experience managing production budgets, vendors, freelancers, agencies, equipment, and creative resources
  • Familiarity with industry-standard production and post-production tools, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software
  • Knowledge of digital asset management systems and content distribution platforms
  • Drone photography or videography experience, FAA certification, photography experience, motion graphics experience, or advanced post-production skills
