Lead the Tampa Y's newest YMCA and help shape the future of the Wesley Chapel community

The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA is seeking an exceptional, mission-driven leader to serve as Executive Director of the Mary W. Sierra Family YMCA, our newest YMCA facility, which opened in September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a $37 million, state-of-the-art YMCA campus designed to serve the rapidly growing Wesley Chapel and surrounding communities. The Mary W. Sierra YMCA features a 50,000-square-foot family center, three outdoor pools with water-park amenities, athletic fields, a field house, fitness and wellness spaces, gymnasium, studios, child watch, and a wide range of programs and services for individuals and families.

The Executive Director will play a critical role in establishing this new YMCA as a vibrant community hub; building membership, developing innovative programs, cultivating community partnerships, engaging volunteers, developing financial support, and creating an exceptional experience for members and participants.

The Opportunity

The Executive Director provides overall leadership for the day-to-day operation of the Mary W. Sierra Family YMCA, with responsibility for membership growth, program development, financial performance, fundraising, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, staff leadership, facility stewardship, safety, and the overall member experience.

The position will lead an operation with a$5 million budget and more than 4,000 household membership units, with significant opportunity for continued growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving organizational goals related to membership, engagement, revenue growth, operating performance, market share, program quality, and member satisfaction.

Most importantly, the Executive Director will be the face of the YMCA in the community-building relationships with members, volunteers, civic and business leaders, schools, community organizations, and other partners to expand the Y's reach and influence.

Key areas of leadership include:

• Membership & Growth: Build and retain a strong membership base while creating an exceptional experience that drives engagement, satisfaction, and long-term loyalty.
• Program Leadership: Develop and expand high-quality programs that respond to community needs and maximize the incredible resources of the Mary Sierra YMCA campus.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a high-performing team that is passionate about the YMCA mission, safety, service, and the member experience.
• Financial Leadership: Lead the center's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue growth, operating margin, and long-term sustainability.
• Fundraising & Development: Lead annual giving and other fundraising efforts while developing relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, and community partners.
• Volunteer & Advisory Board Leadership: Engage volunteers and community leaders in advancing the YMCA mission and building a strong foundation of community support.
• Community Engagement: Establish the Mary Sierra YMCA as a trusted and highly visible community partner throughout Wesley Chapel, Pasco County, and the surrounding region.
• Safety & Risk Management: Maintain an unwavering culture of safety and ensure compliance with YMCA policies, training requirements, emergency procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Facility Stewardship: Ensure the campus, equipment, grounds, and facilities are maintained at the highest possible standard and reflect the quality of the YMCA experience.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, relationship-oriented and results-driven leader who is energized by the opportunity to build something new.

The ideal candidate will bring experience leading a complex business, nonprofit, recreation, health and wellness, hospitality, or similar operation and will demonstrate the ability to:

• Build strong relationships quickly with members, staff, volunteers, and community leaders.
• Lead through growth and change while maintaining a strong culture and clear organizational expectations.
• Develop and execute strategies that grow membership, programs, revenue, and community impact.
• Manage a significant operating budget and use data and financial metrics to drive decision-making.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing leadership team.
• Cultivate donors, volunteers, community partners, and other sources of support.
• Balance the demands of day-to-day operations with a long-term vision for organizational growth.
• Communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, accountability, and a strong commitment to the YMCA mission.
• A bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, recreation, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience leading a YMCA, health and wellness center, recreation organization, nonprofit, or similar operation is strongly preferred. YMCA operational experience is especially valuable.
• The position description calls for experience with operations exceeding $3 million in revenue and 2,500 membership units, along with demonstrated fiscal management and financial development experience.
