The Linn County Gaming Association (LCGA) is seeking an Executive Director to lead its mission-driven organization. Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, this full-time leadership role offers the opportunity to guide grantmaking, community partnerships, and organizational strategy while making a lasting impact throughout the region.
About LCGA
The LCGA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Linn County through strategic community investments. As a Qualified Sponsoring Organization, LCGA stewards funds generated through licensed gaming and awards grants that support local nonprofits, public entities, and initiatives that strengthen our region.
Working collaboratively with community partners, the organization addresses local needs and creates lasting impact through supporting education, human services, arts and culture, recreation, community development, beautification, and emergency response efforts that benefit current and future generations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership for the organization, overseeing operations, grantmaking, financial planning, and organizational growth. As the organization's primary ambassador, the Executive Director builds relationships with community leaders, public officials, grantees, and other partners to advance LCGA's mission and impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Strategy & Community Impact – Develop and execute LCGA's annual and strategic plans, identify community investment opportunities, and promote the organization's impact across Linn County and adjacent counties.
• Build Key Relationships – Serve as LCGA's primary representative and liaison with community partners, grant applicants and recipients, elected officials, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC), and Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center.
• Oversee Governance & Board Relations – Support the Board of Directors through effective governance, board meeting management, leadership development, and annual governance processes.
• Manage Operations & Financial Performance – Lead organizational operations, budgeting, audits, compliance, license renewals, outsourced service providers, and adherence to applicable gaming and regulatory requirements.
• Lead Staff & Grantmaking – Hire, develop, and manage a staff member who will assist in overseeing the grant review, award, and reporting processes to ensure efficient, transparent, and mission-driven community investments.
Qualifications
Required Experience
• 5+ years of executive, nonprofit, foundation, community development, or economic development leadership experience
• Experience working closely with a board of directors and leading organizational strategy
• Strong financial management, budgeting, and operational oversight experience
• Demonstrated success building effective relationships with community, government, nonprofit, and business leaders
• Experience supervising and developing staff
Knowledge & Skills
• Understanding of nonprofit governance, grantmaking, and community investment strategies
• Strong written, verbal, and public presentation skills
• Proficiency with grant management systems, Microsoft Office, accounting software, and related technology platforms
• Knowledge of Linn County and the regional nonprofit landscape preferred
Other Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Ability to travel throughout the region and state as needed
• Must successfully complete a Department of Criminal Investigation Class A background check and a comprehensive review of your personal, financial, and business history
• Must not be an employee, officer, or director of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission
