About the roleLeads the enterprise IT infrastructure responsible for the reliability, modernization, delivery, and operational performance of infrastructure platforms and services. Accountable for infrastructure operations, infrastructure delivery/build execution, operational readiness, partner management, and service reliability across cloud, data center, network, end-user, collaboration, identity, database, and enterprise platforms. Ensures services are operated using disciplined ITSM, ITIL, and SIAM practices to deliver stable, secure, scalable, and business-aligned technology services.
Key Accountabilities:Infrastructure Build & Delivery Leadership- Accountable for enterprise infrastructure build execution including upgrades, modernization, migrations, technical debt remediation, and platform implementations.
- Ensures successful execution of infrastructure initiatives through internal teams and managed service/system integration partners.
- Establishes governance for operational readiness, production acceptance, and transition-to-run.
Infrastructure Operations & Reliability- Accountable for stable, secure, resilient, and highly available infrastructure services.
- Oversees infrastructure operational performance including reliability, service availability, capacity, patching, lifecycle management, and operational risk reduction.
- Drives proactive operational maturity, automation, observability, resilience engineering, and incident prevention.
- Operates infrastructure services using mature ITIL-based service management disciplines including Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, Knowledge, Release, and Continual Improvement.
- Drives a service-oriented operating model emphasizing SLA attainment, operational rigor, root cause elimination, and continual service improvement.
Vendor & Managed Service Leadership- Leads operational accountability for MSPs and infrastructure delivery partners.
- Governs service outcomes, escalation pathways, delivery quality, commercial performance, and operational commitments.
- Ensures vendors deliver measurable value, technical quality, documentation, operational readiness, and service improvements.
Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness- Builds a high-performing organization focused on reliability, execution, accountability, and service ownership.
- Establishes metrics and KPIs for operational performance, delivery execution, service health, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience with significant responsibility across infrastructure operations, engineering, delivery/build, and enterprise technology services.
- 5+ years leading enterprise-scale infrastructure organizations in complex, highly integrated environments.
- Demonstrated experience operating within ITIL-based ITSM environments and working closely with SIAM/multi-vendor operating models.
- Experience leading managed service providers and system integrators with accountability for SLA/KPI performance, service quality, and commercial outcomes.
- Experience across infrastructure domains including cloud, network, identity, collaboration, compute, end-user, platform services, and enterprise hosting.
- Proven experience leading large-scale modernization, migrations, operational transformation, and technical debt reduction initiatives.
- Strong executive stakeholder management, vendor governance, and operational leadership capabilities.
Preferred:- Master's degree (MBA, MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline).
- Certifications or demonstrated expertise in:
- ITIL
- SIAM
- Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
- Service Management / Operational Excellence disciplines.
- Lean / Continual Service Improvement methodologies.
The compensation range for this role is (based on the corporate location in Lake Forest, Illinois):
$135,291.00 - $251,255.00 per year
The final salary offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for commission.
