The Executive Director, Golden Dome Strategy will serve as an accountable leader for shaping, coordinating, and executing pursuit strategy related to the Department of War’s (DOW) Golden Dome for America initiative. This is an extremely visible role within Amentum and requires a highly professional and confident leader and experienced BD professional with a proven track record of working across complex business organizations to achieve business development and capture success.
This leader will be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining a Golden Dome strategy aligned to evolving DOW architecture decisions
- Leading a structured assessment of Amentum capabilities to identify contributions across Golden Dome’s layered architecture
- Advising executive leadership on strategic investments, partnerships, and internal alignment
- Driving senior level relationships with the Golden Dome program office, service components, and key industry partners
- Positioning the company for near-, mid-, and long-term roles within Golden Dome as architecture and funding mature
- Ensuring coherence across capture, R&D, demonstrations, and long-term positioning
- Informing and educating Amentum internal stakeholders (C-suite, operations leadership, business development, GR, MarCom, corporate development) of evolving priorities and activities and status of Amentum’s alignment to Golden Dome priorities/activities
- Shaping Amentum marketing and branding efforts to expand awareness of Amentum relevance to the Golden Dome initiative
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and maintain a Amentum Golden Dome strategy aligned to DOW priorities, phased architecture decisions, and affordability constraints
- Advise leadership on where to invest, divest, partner, or organically grow capabilities
- Serve as the internal authority on Golden Dome strategy, policy, architecture, and acquisition pathways
Internal Capability Integration
- Lead a structured assessment of all company capabilities (sensors, interceptors, C2, modeling, cyber, manufacturing, sustainment, and other ancillary capabilities required to support the Golden Dome initiative)
- Identify dual use and non-obvious contributions the company can bring to Golden Dome
- Align engineering, R&D, BD, and production around a coherent Golden Dome narrative
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and maintain relationships with key leaders within the program office of the Direct Reporting Program Manager (DRPM), Golden Dome for America (GDA), supporting service components, and relevant OSD and congressional stakeholders
- Ensure company messaging aligns with Golden Dome affordability, scale, and integration priorities
Industry Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
- Identify and engage strategic industry partners, including primes, mid tiers, non-traditional vendors, labs, and academic entities
- Shape teaming strategies that align with how Golden Dome capabilities are likely to be acquired and integrated
- Represent the company in Golden Dome related consortia, demonstrations, and industry forums
Capture & Opportunity Development
- Identify and prioritize Golden Dome related opportunities across near term studies, demos, prototypes, and production paths
- Guide capture teams on win themes, discriminators, and architectural relevance
- Support pursuit decisions with clear strategic logic tied to Golden Dome success
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years in defense, aerospace, or national security roles
- Demonstrated experience with missile defense, space systems, sensor networks, C2, or large-scale system of systems integration
- Strong understanding of DoD acquisition, budgeting, and requirements development
- Credibility with senior government, military, and industry leaders
- Proven ability to lead cross enterprise strategy in complex organizations
- Active or ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance (SCI preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior service at DoW, a military service, or FFRDC supporting missile defense or space programs
- Experience standing up or leading enterprise 9ust win initiatives
- Existing relationships within Space Force, Missile Defense Agency, NORTHCOM, or OSD
- Experience operating in high visibility, politically sensitive programs
Compensation Details:
$150,000-$200,000
