Classification: Exempt / Full-Time

Reports To: Board of Directors

Position Overview

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive leader of Douglass Community Services, providing strategic and operational leadership while working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, community partners, and funders. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization's continued growth, sustainability, and effectiveness in serving children, families, and individuals throughout the community.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range:$115,000 - $130,000 annually
  • Paid Time Off:14 paid holidays plus a 2-week Winter Shutdown (valued at over $10,000 in paid time away)
  • Upfront Leave:40 hours of PTO and 24 hours of unpaid time off available immediately
  • PTO Accrual:Earn 6.25% of hours worked from date of hire, with progressive increases after the first year


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Provide visionary leadership and direction for the organization's programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with the agency's mission and community needs.
  • Oversee daily operations while ensuring organizational effectiveness and sustainability.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and support the executive leadership team, including the CFO, CHRO, and program Directors.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on accountability, innovation, and excellence.
  • Support program leaders across Head Start, Housing, Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), Volunteer Programs, and CASA.

Financial & Grant Oversight
  • Maintain strong fiscal oversight of agency operations, budgets, and financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, contracts, and funding requirements.
  • Provide oversight of federal grants, including monitoring expenditures and supporting successful grant management.

Community Relations & Fundraising
  • Serve as the public face and advocate for Douglass Community Services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, funders, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Expand fundraising opportunities and revenue-generating initiatives to support organizational growth.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership or managerial experience in a nonprofit, human services, or educational organization.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, managing, and overseeing federal grants.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
