Brief Overview
Leads and mentors US Individual Life technical claims consultants and other associates providing the business and claim expertise required to ensure appropriate client service, internal controls, client claim audits, process improvement, and claims management practices related to claim processing. Assist in establishing strategic plans, objectives, goals and processes to ensure claims practices are competitive, effective and protective of RGA Re's long-term success. Develops positive relationships with customers and potential customers to improve claim and case management practices.

What you will do

  • Directs and leads the activities of the US Individual Life technical claims consultants and other claim associates, assuring thorough review of selected claims, timely reporting and prompt, efficient service to client companies.
  • Performs external client audits to verify accuracy of claims adjudication practices and to ensure compliance with the terms of the treaty(ies).
  • Directs and supports the management of claim practices to ensure identification and resolution of unfavorable trends in ceding company claims handling. Ensures claims practices and procedures are developed to minimize exposure to undesirable or unanticipated outcomes and provide superior client service.
  • Leads and manages claim and case management issues and practices, including TPA oversight.
  • Oversees development of strong relationships with internal and external customers including other business units to ensure accurate administration and management of reinsured claims.
  • Manages analyzes of customer competencies, knowledge and claim outcomes to identify and provide any of the following client value-added services: individual claim analysis/planning, focused operational assessments, ad hoc training/presentations, roundtable discussions and special projects. Provides detailed reports of findings to customers.
  • Designs and implements claim services plans to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Mentors associates through development and implementation of training plans, coaching, and allocation of resources. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment.
  • Represents RGA Re, as an expert in reinsurance claims expertise, at industry meetings and exercises influence, as appropriate, with customers and potential customers. Manages budget for RGA sponsored conferences.
  • Manages claim value-added services through evaluation and development of new services, cost/benefit analysis, and vendor identification and selection. Assists in product development for reinsurance customers.
  • Functions as claims expert for claim settlements and litigation. Recommends means to mediate or resolve issues.
  • Provides expertise for internal reinsurance treaty and customer policy/plan development.

  • Performs claim analysis and due diligence on new business opportunities. Represents RGA as claim expert at customer presentations.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of RGA global and local claim philosophy. Develop strong links and partnerships with international function heads and utilize international network of resources to improve communication and knowledge transfer.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience :required
  • 8+years individual life claims experience and 5+ years in a supervisor or management role: required
  • Accreditation or certification in Insurance Industry fields, such as ALHC, FLHC, CFE: preferred
  • Recognized in the Industry as a claims expert: preferred
  • Prior claim or quality auditing experience: preferred
  • Intermediate Word, Outlook, and Excel skills
  • Advanced ability to comprehend and interpret insurance and contract documents
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, claims policies and procedures and guidelines for dealing with adjudication, compliance, planning and implementation strategies
  • Highly advanced ability to comprehend, analyze and apply extensive amounts of medical, vocational & claim information to make sound judgments on claim risks
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received/
  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, participate in department/team projects and balance detail with departmental objectives
  • Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously
  • Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines

Compensation Range:
$126,710.00 - $188,840.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
