Full Job Description
The Basics:

Tanium is seeking an Event Manager, Tradeshows to own the end-to-end planning, logistics, and execution of Tanium's presence at third-party tradeshows, industry conferences, and sponsored events across North America and globally. This role is central to how Tanium shows up in the market - ensuring every booth, sponsorship, and event activation reflects the brand with precision, generates qualified pipeline, and delivers a measurable return on investment.

The ideal candidate is an experienced B2B event professional with deep expertise in tradeshow operations - someone equally comfortable negotiating a contract with a general services contractor, managing a $1M+ event budget, and briefing a field sales team on pre-show engagement strategy. They are operationally excellent, calm under pressure, highly organized, and proactive about identifying and resolving issues before they become problems on the show floor. This role requires approximately 25-30% travel.

This position follows the Company's hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

What you'll do:
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Tanium's tradeshow and third-party event program - from event selection and sponsorship contracting through on-site execution, lead handoff, and post-event analysis
  • Develop and manage the annual tradeshow calendar in alignment with Marketing, Sales, and Field Marketing priorities - evaluating event opportunities, recommending investments, and maintaining a portfolio that maximizes pipeline impact per dollar spent
  • Lead all pre-event logistics including venue coordination, booth design and fabrication, A/V and production, shipping and drayage, staffing schedules, housing blocks, and sponsorship fulfillment
  • Manage relationships with event organizers, general service contractors, A/V vendors, swag suppliers, and other external partners - negotiating contracts, managing deliverables, and holding vendors accountable to quality and timelines
  • Build and manage event budgets from initial forecast through final reconciliation - tracking spend against plan, identifying savings opportunities, and reporting ROI to marketing leadership
  • Develop and execute integrated pre-show and post-show campaign strategies in partnership with Demand Generation, Field Marketing, and Digital teams - driving registration, booth traffic, meeting bookings, and lead follow-up
  • Partner closely with Field Sales and Sales Development teams to brief attendees, coordinate executive meetings and VIP experiences, and ensure event staff are prepared to engage prospects and customers effectively
  • Manage tradeshow collateral, swag, and branded materials - maintaining inventory, coordinating production timelines, and ensuring all assets are on-brand and arrive on time
  • Serve as the primary on-site event lead at major tradeshows - managing booth setup and teardown, coordinating staff, troubleshooting issues in real time, and ensuring flawless execution
  • Instrument and track event performance metrics including leads generated, pipeline influenced, meetings held, cost per lead, and attendee satisfaction - delivering structured post-event debriefs and recommendations to improve future programs
  • Evaluate new tradeshow and sponsorship opportunities - conducting ROI analysis, benchmarking against peer companies, and making data-driven recommendations on where Tanium should invest or pull back
  • Ensure all event activities comply with brand standards, accessibility requirements, and company policies
  • Work with Corporate Events team on other large events such as the annual user conference, Converge, and annual Sales Kickoff.

We're looking for someone with:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in B2B event or field marketing, with a track record of independently owning and executing large-scale events (1,000+ attendees or booth footprints of 400+ sq ft)
  • Deep expertise in tradeshow operations including exhibit design and fabrication, general service contractor management, drayage, A/V production, housing blocks, and on-site logistics
  • Proven ability to build and manage event budgets of $500K or more, with strong financial discipline and experience reconciling actuals against forecast
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent events across different geographies and time zones
  • Proficiency with event management and registration platforms (e.g., Cvent, Bizzabo, Swoogo, or Splash) and CRM systems (Salesforce) is preferred
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills - able to hold external partners accountable and resolve issues quickly
  • Experience developing pre- and post-event integrated marketing programs in partnership with demand generation and digital teams
  • Exceptional project management skills - meticulous attention to detail, ability to manage complex workstreams simultaneously, and a track record of delivering events on time and on budget
  • Strong communicator and cross-functional collaborator - able to align Sales, Marketing, and Executive stakeholders around event strategy and logistics
  • Cybersecurity, enterprise software, or B2B technology industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Federal or public sector event programs (e.g., AFCEA, ACT-IAC, GovSummit) is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25-30% of the time, including weekends for event setup and teardown
