Responsibilities

Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Estimator/Project Manager to join our Copcan team in our Parksville, BC office. In this role, you will estimate and manage a diverse range of commercial and industrial construction projects and play a key role in driving the continued growth and success of our General Contracting Division across Vancouver Island.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare timely and accurate bid estimates through quantity take-offs using estimating software, spreadsheet software, hand calculations, etc.
  • Assist with determining which jobs to put through the bid process and which jobs to pass up due to the current circumstances of the company, marketplace, and economic conditions.
  • Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
  • Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude.
  • Mentor coordinators and provide support whenever necessary.
  • Prepares instructions to bidders, bid form, and other bid solicitation information.
  • Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
  • Manage project performance to meet schedule, budget, and contract specifications.
  • Complete site inspections and attend progress meetings.
  • Prepare/review quality control, OH&S, and environmental plans.
  • Manage resources, cost control, progress estimates, and contract change management.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and sub-trades.
  • Provide support for our field teams as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Preferably 5+ years of estimating and project management experience in the commercial and/or industrial construction sector.
  • Successful estimating portfolio in commercial and/or industrial projects.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals towards a common goal.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with experience in Heavy Bid software an asset.
  • Post secondary degree, diploma, and/or equivalent related work experience.
  • Valid BC driver's license


Compensation:

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical starting salary range of $100,000 to $130,000 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
