Full Job Description
We're looking for an Estimator who has significant experience in Infrastructure, heavy civil and Industrial. Candidates will develop accurate, competitive, and executable estimates on heavy civil and infrastructure projects. This role is hands-on and accountable for driving estimates from early concept through submission, working closely with preconstruction, operations, and leadership to ensure projects are priced right and built right.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Estimating & Bid Preparation
  • Prepare accurate estimates for heavy civil, water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects
  • Develop detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates
  • Assist in building first-principles, bottom-up estimates
  • Support bid submissions by ensuring estimates are complete, accurate, and competitive


Scope Review & Cost Analysis
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Identify project scope, assumptions, and potential risks
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies and estimate documentation
  • Flag scope gaps, cost-saving opportunities, and constructability considerations


Quantity Take-Offs & Pricing
  • Complete detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Prepare pricing summaries and cost breakdowns
  • Help ensure all project scope is captured within the estimate


Preconstruction Support
  • Assist with conceptual budgets and preliminary pricing
  • Support design-build pursuits and alternative costing exercises
  • Participate in value engineering and cost comparison exercises where appropriate


Collaboration
  • Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, operations, and field teams
  • Participate in estimate reviews and bid strategy discussions
  • Help ensure estimates reflect practical construction methods and project requirements
  • Support a collaborative and continuous improvement culture within the estimating team

Experience & Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of estimating experience in mechanical construction, HVAC systems, water and wastewater treatment facilities, industrial projects, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, HVAC Technology, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong quantity take-off and cost estimating skills
  • Experience obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Bid2Win, HeavyBid, or similar is considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to visit project sites as required


$130,000-$160,000 DPE (compensation will be based on experience for more junior candidates)
