Estimator, Buildings Industrial
Bird Construction is seeking a Buildings Estimator to join our Industrial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for building scopes associated with industrial, manufacturing, power generation, and nuclear projects.
This role requires a strong understanding of building construction systems, subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and estimating across all major construction scopes.
What You Will Be Working On- Lead the estimating process from opportunity review through bid submission.
- Review and interpret prime contracts, drawings, specifications, scope documents, and commercial requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and estimates for industrial building projects.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Develop bid strategies, estimate summaries, and proposal submissions.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, exclusions, and scope gaps.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and project teams to develop execution plans and estimate assumptions.
- Participate in bid reviews, client clarifications, and post-bid negotiations.
- Support project handover activities upon award.
What We Are Looking For- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of estimating experience within commercial, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, power, or nuclear construction.
- Experience estimating buildings within industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, power generation facilities, nuclear facilities, laboratories, or process plants.
- Strong knowledge of building construction and CSI Divisions 1-16.
- Proven experience managing estimates from start to finish, including quantity take-offs, subcontractor procurement, bid closing, and final submission.
- Strong experience reviewing and interpreting prime contracts, specifications, tender documents, and commercial terms and conditions.

- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Experience with Design-Build, Construction Management, EPC, or Lump Sum projects.
- Experience using industry-standard estimating platforms.
