Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:
  • Lead and manage the estimating team to deliver accurate, high-quality estimates
  • Drive continuous improvement in estimating processes, tools, and standards
  • Contribute to bid strategy, including risk evaluation and project selection


Estimating & Execution:
  • Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Review drawings, specifications, and scope of work to identify risks, gaps, and overlaps
  • Evaluate tenders for quality, completeness, and risk profile
  • Ensure estimates are delivered on time and align with project requirements


Technical & Commercial Coordination:
  • Analyze subcontractor pricing, inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications
  • Provide clear direction to suppliers and subcontractors based on tender requirements
  • Support development of execution plans, schedules, and manpower projections
  • Contribute to proposal submissions with clear, value-driven technical content
  • Identify execution and pricing risks and develop mitigation strategies


Qualifications:
  • 7-10+ years of estimating experience in heavy industrial construction, including site exposure
  • Strong expertise in structural, mechanical equipment and piping systems
  • Proficiency in interpreting drawings, schematics, PIDs, LDTs, and specifications across multiple trades
  • Experience with contract types including lump sum, unit rate, and T&M
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and constructability
  • Experience preparing proposal documents (schedules, manpower plans, execution strategies)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Navisworks/SmartPlant, Bluebeam and Adobe
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Trade certification or engineering degree preferred


Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Drivers Abstract
  • Background check and other assessments as required
  • CSTS 20 and WHMIS 2015 certifications
  • Occasional travel to job sites for bidding and project kick-off meetings
