Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy:- Lead and manage the estimating team to deliver accurate, high-quality estimates
- Drive continuous improvement in estimating processes, tools, and standards
- Contribute to bid strategy, including risk evaluation and project selection
Estimating & Execution:- Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Review drawings, specifications, and scope of work to identify risks, gaps, and overlaps
- Evaluate tenders for quality, completeness, and risk profile
- Ensure estimates are delivered on time and align with project requirements
Technical & Commercial Coordination:- Analyze subcontractor pricing, inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications
- Provide clear direction to suppliers and subcontractors based on tender requirements
- Support development of execution plans, schedules, and manpower projections
- Contribute to proposal submissions with clear, value-driven technical content
- Identify execution and pricing risks and develop mitigation strategies
Qualifications:- 7-10+ years of estimating experience in heavy industrial construction, including site exposure
- Strong expertise in structural, mechanical equipment and piping systems
- Proficiency in interpreting drawings, schematics, PIDs, LDTs, and specifications across multiple trades
- Experience with contract types including lump sum, unit rate, and T&M
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and constructability
- Experience preparing proposal documents (schedules, manpower plans, execution strategies)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Navisworks/SmartPlant, Bluebeam and Adobe
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- Trade certification or engineering degree preferred
Additional Requirements:- Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing
- Drivers Abstract
- Background check and other assessments as required
- CSTS 20 and WHMIS 2015 certifications
- Occasional travel to job sites for bidding and project kick-off meetings
