As part of our Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) team, you will help establish and coordinate high-performing ESH programs for our advanced manufacturing projects including those for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and data center projects.
Job Summary:In this role, you will lead process improvement, organizational capability, learning, culture, innovation, and the onboarding of all ESH personnel hired into the M&T GBU. You will work with GBU and project leadership to evaluate ESH programs, identify systemic opportunities, develop scalable solutions, and support consistent implementation of the ESH Management System throughout the project lifecycle.
You will serve as the GBU functional lead for ESH onboarding and as an advisor to project ESH teams. You will partner with project management, construction, engineering, quality, supply chain, commissioning and startup, human resources, talent acquisition, learning and development, customers, and Corporate ESH to provide each new ESH employee with a consistent, role-based onboarding experience. You will use performance data, assessments, workforce feedback, and lessons learned to strengthen governance, field execution, workforce capability, engagement, and wellbeing.

Major Responsibilities:• Provide functional leadership for M&T ESH process improvement, organizational effectiveness, learning, culture, and continual improvement.
• Establish consistent methods for evaluating ESH program effectiveness across projects, proposals, offices, and business operations.
• Facilitate structured onboarding of all ESH personnel and introduce them to key programs and tools
• Analyze indicators, observations, employee feedback, assessment findings, training data, and corrective-action trends to guide decisions.
• Prepare executive-ready reports, dashboards, recommendations, guidance, tools, templates, and implementation resources.
• Standardize and share effective ESH practices while allowing appropriate adaptation to new projects.
• Own and continuously improve the M&T GBU ESH onboarding framework, including role-based curricula, onboarding pathways, competency expectations, facilitator materials, workshops, and train-the-trainer resources.
• Coordinate onboarding for all ESH personnel hired into the M&T GBU, from acceptance through initial deployment, in partnership with hiring managers, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, project ESH leadership, and assigned mentors.
• Develop and maintain standardized onboarding plans, checklists, schedules, learning assignments, resource guides, and role-specific requirements for GBU, project, office, and field ESH positions.
• Confirm that each new hire receives timely access to required systems, standards, procedures, training, project information, organizational contacts, and development resources needed to perform effectively.
• Track onboarding progress, required training, competency milestones, mentor engagement, deployment readiness, and unresolved barriers; provide status reporting and escalate issues requiring leadership action.
• Engage new hires and their managers at defined intervals to assess onboarding effectiveness, clarify expectations, address support needs, and incorporate feedback into continual improvement of the program.
• Verify onboarding completion and role readiness through documented training, demonstrated knowledge, manager confirmation, field application, and completion of assigned development activities.
• Support coaching, mentoring, career development, succession planning, and developmental assignments for ESH professionals and leaders.
Education and Experience Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Education, Organizational Development, Construction Management, or a related discipline, plus typically 13 or more years of relevant experience; or, in lieu of a degree, typically 17 or more years of directly relevant experience.
• Experience supporting ESH programs in large engineering, procurement, construction, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, industrial, energy, or similarly complex environments.
• Experience with continuous improvement, management systems, audits, assessments, corrective actions, lessons learned, or organizational change.
• Experience designing, coordinating, or facilitating enterprise or multi-project onboarding, leadership workshops, workforce-development programs, training, or competency-assurance processes.
• Experience coordinating across hiring managers, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, project teams, mentors, and learning functions to deliver consistent onboarding outcomes.
Required Knowledge and Skills:• Working knowledge of ESH management systems, risk-based planning, regulatory compliance, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a related discipline.
• Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, change management, instructional design, or ISO internal auditor.
• Experience supporting ESH across multiple projects, regions, or business units.
• Experience with proposals, mobilization, readiness reviews, management reviews, risk registers, staffing plans, or project closeout.
• Experience with digital ESH systems, workflow automation, dashboards, analytics, learning-management systems, or performance reporting.
• Training or experience in root cause analysis, human and organizational performance, behavioral science, Craft-Based Leadership, adult learning, coaching, or organizational development.
• Experience with mental health, wellbeing, fatigue management, employee engagement, or psychological-safety programs.
• Knowledge of construction safety, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, emergency management, permit-to-work, contractor management, and critical-control verification.
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing hazards, cleanrooms, hazardous chemicals, phased energization, simultaneous operations, commissioning, and startup.
• Ability to convert project lessons and performance information into scalable GBU standards, training, tools, and improvement strategies.
