A leading advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced
Equipment & Tooling Engineer to support high-volume production operations. This role is focused on designing, launching, and improving manufacturing equipment and tooling within a General Assembly environment, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, throughput, and continuous improvement.
Location: Warsaw, IN
Target Salary: $110-$160K DOE

Qualifications- 6+ years of experience in automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments
- Strong experience supporting General Assembly operations
- Hands-on experience with equipment launches, production ramp-ups, and commissioning
- Proven knowledge of PFMEA and Control Plans
- Experience developing workstation layouts and supporting production flow optimization
- CAD and mechanical design proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)
- Fixture and tooling design experience
- Strong root cause analysis skills and continuous improvement (CI) mindset
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in greenfield, startup, or rapid-scale manufacturing environments
- Exposure to ergonomic design and operator-focused workstation development
- Familiarity with equipment validation and capability studies
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Responsibilities- Lead the design, specification, procurement, and commissioning of assembly equipment, fixtures, and tooling
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, and workstation layouts for production processes
- Support equipment launches and production ramp-ups, ensuring readiness and stability
- Conduct supplier reviews, runoffs, and validation activities for new equipment
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for equipment and process issues
- Collaborate on layout development and material flow improvements
- Analyze equipment performance metrics (OEE, uptime, MTTR, MTBF, cycle time) to identify improvements
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, and efficiency
- Develop technical documentation including drawings, maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides
- Train and support operators, technicians, and engineers on equipment and tooling best practices
