Equipment Automation Engineer
Position Summary:
The Morrisville (MSV) facility is Catalent’s center of excellence for nasal product development and manufacturing, providing end‑to‑end services from early formulation through clinical and commercial production. The site offers comprehensive nasal development capabilities, including analytical support, device selection, spray characterization, and both clinical and commercial scale for unit‑dose, bi‑dose, and multidose nasal products. The Morrisville site also provides development services for dry powder (DPI) and liquid pulmonary products including formulation development and optimization, method services and analytical testing.
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the manufacturing efforts for the commercial and clinical processes of inhaled products (DPI and nasal) and other formulations compatible with the equipment available at the Catalent Morrisville site.
The Role:
Collaborate with the Process Development Group on new product introductions, including the design and sourcing of custom equipment; Provide engineering expertise for the design, specification, and installation
Troubleshooted and diagnosed control system problems, working closely with maintenance and technicians
Examine, design, and implement industrial-improved processes and solutions; Identify, plan, and implement key projects to improve quality, reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve cycle time by reducing wasted time, rework, etc
Ensures that all automation designs and technical documentation adhere to GMP standards
Develop and implement improved and robust control strategies for manufacturing processes
Trains users on control system functionality (Programmable Logic Controller, Computer/Control Networks, Control Computers, and Instrumentation
All other duties as assigned
The Candidate:
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in an Engineering discipline
Must have 2-4 years of related automation/equipment/controls experience; Prior experience in a pharmaceutical and/or GMP environment is preferred
Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley batch control system is preferred
Experience with other controls (Siemens, Schneider, etc.) is preferred
Experience in field wiring practices and panel design, experience with troubleshooting and start-up of control systems, and experience with instrumentation is required
Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
