Full Job Description
Summary:

Provide overall project management direction on a wide variety of environmental remediation projects with construction components. Project Managers are responsible for planning, managing, and delivering environmental projects that require deep knowledge of CERCLA, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, RCRA, and California environmental regulations. The role oversees technical work, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and serves as a primary client and regulatory agency point of contact to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with applicable laws and permits.

The salary range for this position is $92,707-$168,228/year, please note this is a tiered position.

This position will require up to 65% of travel within the southwest United States region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
  • Lead environmental projects from scoping through completion, including investigation, remediation, permitting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Review and approve detailed project/component-level plans (including QAPPs/Work Plans/Monitoring Reports/Investigation Reports/Human Health Risk Assessments/ and other CERCLA documents).
  • Manage and oversee projects, including managing subcontracting process and subcontractors' activities, prepare technical evaluations on their engineering specialty, identify and recommend solutions to mitigate issues and problems encountered during various construction phases in accordance with project scope of work, acceptable construction code/practices, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Develop and define acceptance criteria for all project phases/key Close monitoring of critical milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure the project stays aligned with the strategic goals and delivers the planned/stated
  • Provide engineering and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written documentation.
  • Collaborate with various groups within Ahtna and multiple client
  • Identification analysis of all project risks and preparation for a risk response
  • Proactive communication of risks to concerned

Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)
Level - I

  • Maintain 1-2 areas of technical expertise
  • Technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with small-sized task orders and project proposals
  • Technical mentoring
Level - II
  • Provide client assistance to program managers;
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget on medium-sized projects ($500,000 - $2M)
  • Maintain 2 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Prepare medium-sized task orders and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
Level - Senior
  • Business development assistance to program managers;
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget on large-sized projects (greater than $2M)
  • Maintain 2-3 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents
  • Prepare task orders and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
Minimum Qualifications:
All levels:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, or Physical/Environmental Sciences
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and California environmental laws and regulations, including how they are implemented by relevant agencies
  • Experience managing environmental projects in a consulting or regulatory environment
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record, able to drive company vehicle
  • Experience with Federal contracting
  • Experience and adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, ) to obtain security access badges
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software
Level - I
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant experience; specialized training and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
Level - II
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
Level - Senior
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • GIS/CAD Software
  • Professional Registration such as PE, PG, CEM or PMP
  • Experience with Superfund or state-led cleanup programs, water quality permits, air permitting, and hazardous waste management
  • Experience with government contracting
  • Ability to interpret and analyze environmental laboratory/data validation reports
  • Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures
