The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our growing team of professionals. This position will lead environmental permitting efforts supporting projects within the Energy Transmission and Distribution sector of our energy portfolio.

The successful candidate will have experience with environmental regulatory and permitting programs at the federal, state, and local levels, with a strong emphasis on permitting requirements and regulatory agencies within the State of Florida.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and process Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) applications through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Water Management Districts (WMDs), local agencies, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
• Support permitting for large and small projects, including linear pipelines, transmission and distribution lines, substations, waterfronts, ports, and offshore construction projects.
• Support state, federal, and local regulatory programs, including Sovereign Submerged Lands, Joint Coastal Permitting, Environmental Resource Permitting, Coastal Zone Management reviews, and Section 404/401 permitting.
• Conduct and/or support Section 106 consultation, wetland delineations, wetland mitigation, and Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method (UMAM) analyses.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies regarding potential impacts to threatened and endangered species and other environmental resources.
• Track regulatory review schedules and permitting timeframes.
• Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, agency submittals, and related documentation.
• Support environmental permitting and construction compliance activities.
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in field visits, agency meetings, and project meetings as required.
• Experience with USACE Rivers and Harbors Act permits is helpful but not required.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
• Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or another applicable field of study.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with environmental permitting in the State of Florida.
• Knowledge of Florida wetlands and listed species habitats.
• Experience working with federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agencies and permitting programs.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to collect, review, and document information accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team where roles are dynamic and assignments may change based on project needs.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work at remote project sites as needed.
• Experience presenting before local planning agencies or commissions is helpful.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Work Environment

• The position's primary work environment is approximately 90% office and 10% field. Field assignments may involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions and terrain.
• Site visits and other project-related meetings may require extended periods of travel in a motor vehicle.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $110,000 annually

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
