Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Environmental Lead Monitor to support a high-volume environmental

services program for a large utility client by providing in-field and desktop support for a team of over 200 field staff.

Ideal candidates will possess relevant experience adhering to and enforcing standard operating procedures, managing

challenging interactions, and adapting to a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-field mentorship to field staff to ensure consistency and compliance with client expectations, evaluate quality of

staff performance, and address any performance concerns.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between field staff and the client, including, but not limited to, escalating issues related

to safety, environmental compliance, and contract-mandated notifications.
  • Follow procedural guidance to resolve issues that arise and provide clarification of resource project requirements.
  • Assist with field work such as pre-construction resource surveys and construction monitoring, including the preparation of

associated reporting.
  • Provide desktop support by synthesizing data from multiple sources, updating databases and spreadsheets, and sending

email communications.
  • Professionally communicate (written and verbal) with Stantec staff and managers, clients, subconsultants and project

stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Stantec staff, subconsultants, and client staff to complete work assignments according to standard

workflow processes.
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to ensure that tasks are completed in the most

effective, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Maintain Stantec's high standard of safety, quality control, and quality assurance.
  • Regular day travel (field visits) will be required within southern California.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • 2 years of experience conducting monitoring, surveys, reporting, or permitting in Southern California.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with environmental resource data gathering and collection using GPS and GIS tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, and excellent coordination and communication skills.
  • Adept at handling complex and challenging interactions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented setting.
  • Demonstrate good judgement as to when to elevate potential issues to team leads/managers.
  • Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships.
  • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.), and Google

Earth.
  • Ability to learn new software systems (training will be provided).
  • Willingness to work outside of typical business hours when needed.
  • Candidates must pass client background check to access online systems (upon employment).
  • Comply with all Stantec and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use.
  • Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
  • Familiarity with utilities O&M work is preferred.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Archaeology or related field.

Minimum 2 years related experience in Southern California.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may

include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$62,500.00 - $90,600.00 Annually
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$67,000.00 - $97,200.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
