SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (EHS Manager) will oversee the Environmental, Health & Safety program activities for the production facility. The Manager provides a comprehensive range of Environmental, Health & Safety support and service to management and staff, develops and implements Environmental, Health & Safety programs for the production facility. In the absence of the EHS Manager, the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will assume manager duties and responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Oversees and administers the Environmental, Health & Safety systems for the facility which includes the daily management and testing of the industrial wastewater system; provides expert guidance and consultation to management in all aspects of environmental, health and safety compliance.
- Designs and implements environmental, health & safety programs, services, strategies, and initiatives that are responsive to the needs of the company's facilities and guarantees close integration with overall company policy; monitors program efficiency, develops reporting procedures and other methods to measure success, and revises processes and procedures as necessary to improve program effectiveness.
- Provides day-to-day guidance and support to management regarding environmental, health & safety practices, interpretation of company environmental, health and safety policies, problem resolution, and compliance with federal and state law; develops and maintains written departmental procedures to guide management in the application of established environmental, health and safety processes and documentation.
- Oversees and manages the response to, and investigation, of reports of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions; reviews recommendations and/or takes appropriate action in order to mitigate potential environmental risks.
- Establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program/project effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.
- Performs training needs analyses, as appropriate, and initiates, develops, and/or coordinates the implementation of specific training and development programs for management, staff, and operators; conducts new employee orientation and associated activities for Environmental, Health & Safety systems.
- Supervision of Environmental Specialist, and Safety Interns.
- Manages inventory of Safety and Sanitation supplies including First Aid Cabinets.
- Manages wastewater operations and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manages environmental reporting requirements.
- All other job-related duties as assigned.
- Member of the Food Safety Team and Food Quality Team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Responsibilities include: the employing, the training, the supervising, the disciplining, and the discharging of the employees in the department; subject to the approval of the company.

- Working relationship with OSHA, MDNRE, MDEQ, MDA, USDA, FDA, etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
