Full Job Description
We have an opening for an Environmental Health & Safety Data Manager supporting the Technical Services Department (TSD) in the Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) Directorate. Within TSD this position will support environmental monitoring activities at LLNL and will collaborate with ES&H environmental analysts, on-site and off-site environmental laboratories and environmental professional in other LLNL organizations. You will conduct comprehensive assessments of key processes, identify improvements for environmental monitoring data functions, respond to stakeholder inquiries, and interact with clients and technical support staff to analyze data flow, reporting capabilities and implement process improvements.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

You Will
  • Under minimal direction, perform complex sample data processing, extraction, reporting, and analysis to identify anomalies, troubleshoot data and workflow issues, and improve data delivery and integrity.
  • Perform data extraction and analysis using query tools to support regulatory reporting, and prepare customized reports, summaries, and data visualizations for environmental analysts across ES&H organizations.
  • Independently maintain and modify field tracking forms, chain of custody forms, and sampling plans in coordination with environmental analysts and technicians.
  • Extract, evaluate, and prepare relevant information for incorporation into related procedures and manuals, and train users to query, obtain, and interpret standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Organize, log, verify, store, and manipulate complex analytical data to ensure data integrity and user accessibility.
  • Evaluate data flow and reporting capabilities for environmental media including surface water, air particulate, air tritium, sewer, soil, vegetation, and others, and identify and implement improvements for data delivery and integrity in collaboration with stakeholders and technical staff.
  • Serve as a TSD representative on multidisciplinary teams to support the development and enhancement of data management tools by applying advanced data analytics and developing visualization tools using Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, Python, or similar analytical platforms.
  • Perform archiving and electronic records maintenance of environmental data and supporting documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant functional discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with workflows related to processing environmental or public health-related data, along with strong technical expertise in data management practices, associated software applications, related work processes, and the underlying data types, terminology, and database architecture.
  • Experience using SQL and/or data analytics and visualization tools to query databases, perform data extraction, and produce technical reports in support of custom or specialized reporting, data management needs, and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience learning and applying custom and COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) computer software user interface systems for business processes.
  • Experience gathering user requirements and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and improve data analytics, business processes, and recommendations for process improvement.
  • Effective communication skills to interact professionally with others, as well as work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment, multi-tasking and adjusting to changing priorities and willingness to learn new responsibilities.

Pay Range: $114,900- $140,712 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
