Environmental Health Officer, Fort St. John BC Full Time

If so, Northern Health has an exciting opportunity for you in Fort St. John to make a meaningful impact while helping keep our communities safe.

We currently offer a $30,000 signing incentive for new full-time hires, which has been extended through September 30, 2026. Environmental Health Officers may also qualify for moving expenses, in accordance with applicable guidelines.

About the Role

In alignment with Northern Health's mission, vision, and values, the Environmental Health Officer plays a vital role in safeguarding public health.

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate, you will:
• Deliver a comprehensive environmental health protection program • Reduce the incidence of communicable diseases, injuries, and health hazards • Conduct inspections and technical assessments • Provide consultation, education, and guidance to the public and stakeholders • Support community development while ensuring environmental health standards are upheld
• Enforce applicable environmental health legislation, policies, and standards

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 16:30

Wage Range: $41.65 - $55.91

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:
• A bachelor's degree in environmental health (or equivalent recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors)
• A Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI)
• A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle
