Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer for our Parsippany, NJ office. This experienced professional will perform a variety of environmental tasks in support of environmental remediation projects, including developing long-range remedial solutions and strategies to reduce environmental risk.

 

Projects are primarily located in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania; the position includes support to other Dewberry offices in the U.S. Responsibilities include: the site/remedial investigation, remedial project design, and implementation of remedial actions pursuant to regulatory agency and/or company direction.

 

The candidate must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently, while supporting a team that includes engineers, scientists, and field personnel. The work required is diverse and ranges from performing and/or coordination of field inspection and soil/groundwater sampling to technical work that requires strong communication skills and knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Adobe Acrobat. Current OSHA 40-hour certification and/or other applicable certification preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Multi-media sampling and contractor oversight is part of day-to-day responsibilities
  • Support emergency spill response activities in the field and in the office
  • Lead the field investigation events and mentor junior staff in multi-media sampling activities
  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of assigned work.
  • Interacts with the client in the field, at meetings, and on conference calls.
  • Prepares and manages scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Work with staff and management team to develop strategic direction for remediation and implementation of environmental-related projects and/or litigation support.
  • Supports the team for negotiations with regulatory agencies and management of compliance with applicable orders, agency directives, and permits.
  • Assists with proposals.
  • Manages and meets budgets. 
  • Meets project, client, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Other duties as required.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS in Environmental Engineering or closely related field 
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • OSHA 40-hour certification with a current 8-hour annual refresher course certification.
  • Working knowledge of NJDEP, NYSDEC, NYCDEP and/or PADEP requirements a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, subconsultants, and county/agency review staff.
  • Composes technical reports, memoranda, and other written communication.
  • Handles multiple concurrent projects.
  • Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office software
  • Driving is a requirement of the position.  A clean driving record is required

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $84,525 to $108,675 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for Parsippany, NJ only.
