Job Description

Serves as the SME for all examinations related to military environmental and occupational exposures - including PACT Act presumptive conditions, burn pits, Agent Orange, Camp Lejeune water contamination, and Persian Gulf/Afghanistan infectious disease exposure - providing clinical leadership and quality oversight to the examiner network handling these highly specialized claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as SME for PACT Act, burn pit, Agent Orange, Camp Lejeune, and Persian Gulf/Afghanistan infectious disease examination categories
  • Provide leadership, guidance, oversight, and QA to environmental and occupational health examiners
  • Deliver senior clinical review and executive medical opinion on complex exposure-related examination findings
  • Advise on emerging presumptive condition policy and its translation into examiner protocols
  • Support Training Director in developing exposure-specific examiner curriculum
  • Represent SAIC in VA-facing discussions on exposure examination quality and adequacy


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and 10 years of experience
  • Active, unrestricted license in good standing issued by a State Medical Board
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Preventive Medicine or Occupational Medicine
  • Minimum 3 years of experience relevant to completing VA disability examinations
  • Deliver senior clinical review and executive medical opinion on complex exposure-related examination findings
  • Advise on emerging presumptive condition policy and its translation into examiner protocols
  • Support Training Director in developing exposure-specific examiner curriculum
  • Represent SAIC in VA-facing discussions on exposure examination quality and adequacy
  • Ability to obtain and maintain VA Public Trust
  • US Citizen required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior VA or DoD experience with toxic exposure/presumptive condition policy or adjudication
  • National-level policy or Congressional/interagency liaison experience on military exposure issues
  • Peer-review or executive clinical oversight experience of examiners conducting exposure-related exams
