Full Job Description
Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Enterprise Solutions Engineer who thrives in fast-paced, customer-driven environments and takes ownership of complex technical challenges from concept through deployment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, engaging directly with customers, and delivering high-performance optomechanical systems with minimal oversight. You will operate at the intersection of mechanical engineering, optical integration, and customer engagement, translating real-world application requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.

You will play a critical role in driving customer success by developing innovative systems that integrate optics, precision mechanics, and advanced technologies for semiconductor metrology and inspection applications.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer-Facing Leadership
  • Lead technical engagements with customers to define requirements and develop tailored solutions
  • Act as a technical advisor during pre-sales activities, including solution development, feasibility analysis, and technical presentations
  • Translate customer challenges into clear engineering problems and executable solutions
System Design & Engineering Execution
  • Closely collaborate with optical engineers to design and develop optomechanical systems incorporating optics, sensors, lasers, imaging components, and precision assemblies
  • Apply strong fundamentals in alignment, stability, thermal effects, and vibration control
  • Perform tolerance analysis, thermal analysis, and structural evaluations to ensure system performance
  • Translate requirements into detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation
Delivery & Problem Solving
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of systems and assemblies
  • Troubleshoot field issues related to alignment, performance, and system stability
  • Drive root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions quickly and effectively
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (sales, manufacturing, applications) to ensure successful project delivery

Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with exposure to optical or precision systems
  • Hands-on experience with optomechanical design principles (alignment, stability, thermal behavior)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of tight tolerances, precision machining, and materials selection
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects from concept through implementation
  • Proven track record of solving complex technical problems with limited direction
  • Experience working in customer-facing or application-driven engineering environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Preferred
  • Experience with optical systems (imaging, lasers, photonics, or metrology equipment)
  • Familiarity with optical alignment techniques and tools
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and precision engineering best practices
  • Experience in semiconductor, photonics, medical devices, or advanced manufacturing industries
  • Exposure to simulation tools (thermal, structural, vibration)
  • Project or solutions engineering experience

Key Competencies:
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for technical and customer outcomes
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Bias for action and ability to make decisions under uncertainty
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies in dynamic environments
  • Comfortable operating with minimal direction while managing multiple priorities
  • Proactive problem solver who anticipates challenges and addresses them early
  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on performance, reliability, and manufacturability

Work Environment & Expectations:
  • This role operates in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment where engineers are expected to take initiative, communicate clearly, and deliver results with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Success requires balancing customer needs, engineering constraints, and business objectives while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and execution.
  • Required travel to support customer engagements and industry activities is >25%
