About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead the ingestion, transformation, and standardization of enterprise telemetry data into the firm's centralized data lake.
This role is critical to enabling high-quality observability data (logs, metrics, traces, events) to support real-time monitoring, advanced analytics, and machine learning use cases such as anomaly detection and predictive insights. The engineer will work at the intersection of observability, data engineering, and platform abstraction, ensuring telemetry data is reliable, normalized, and consumable at scale across the enterprise. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in observability tools, telemetry pipelines, and cloud data platforms with experience enabling ML-driven use cases.
In this role, you will:- Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:- Experience with OpenTelemetry (instrumentation and collectors)
- Experience integrating observability pipelines with data lakes and analytics platforms
- Familiarity with machine learning use cases such as anomaly detection, forecasting, and event correlation
- Experience working with streaming data frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, Flink, Spark Streaming)
- Knowledge of data abstraction and semantic layer design for enterprise consumption
- Experience with data quality frameworks and governance practices
- Understanding of SRE principles and how observability data supports reliability engineering
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments with multiple lines of business

Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$119,000.00 - $224,000.00
