Full Job Description
The Enterprise Business Architect shapes and advances our business architecture capability to enable enterprise strategy execution, planning alignment, and value realization. This role partners across business and technology leadership to translate enterprise strategy into actionable business capabilities, operating models, and roadmaps that guide investment decisions and transformation initiatives.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership in defining how the organization aligns business priorities, processes, and capabilities to deliver measurable outcomes. Also serves as a key cross-functional partner to Business Leaders, Finance, Enterprise Architecture, Product, and Transformation teams to ensure initiatives are aligned, scalable, and positioned to deliver enterprise value.

Location: reporting to the Director Enterprise Planning & Architecture, this position is based in a hybrid work environment (combination of onsite work at the Meridian, Idaho campus and work-from-home). Fully remote work may be considered for candidates located in a mutually agreed-upon location.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college)

Required Experience:
  • 5-7+ years of experience in business strategy, enterprise planning, process transformation, IT architecture, and/or related disciplines that spans working in or closely aligned with Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or strategic planning functions
  • Demonstrated experience translating strategy into business capabilities, roadmaps, and execution-oriented plans
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional alignment across business and technology partners
  • Proven ability to evaluate initiatives, investments, and opportunities for alignment to strategic priorities and business outcomes
  • Solid experience in developing business architecture artifacts such as capability models, value streams, and initiative maps
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment without direct authority
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and executive communication skills


We'd also love it if you have:
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with enterprise planning, portfolio management, or governance processes (e.g., ECC, EPMO, VMO)
  • Experience with architecture frameworks or methodologies (e.g., capability mapping, value streams, TOGAF)
  • Background in process improvement, Lean/Six Sigma, or operational excellence
  • Experience supporting or enabling large-scale transformation initiatives
  • Experience with modeling tools and collaboration platforms (e.g., Visio, Lucid, or similar tools)


Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Business Architecture & Strategy Alignment
  • Define and evolve business architecture practices, standards, and artifacts across the enterprise
  • Translate business strategy into business capabilities, value streams, and domain-specific roadmaps
  • Partner with leadership to define future-state operating models aligned to enterprise priorities
  • Ensure alignment between strategic objectives, business capabilities, and initiative investments


Enterprise Planning & Governance Support
  • Support enterprise planning processes by providing a structured view of business capabilities, priorities, and dependencies
  • Partner with governance bodies (e.g., ECC, EPMO, VMO) to evaluate, prioritize, and align initiatives
  • Provide insights to support portfolio prioritization, sequencing, and trade-off decisions
  • Ensure initiatives are aligned to enterprise standards, roadmaps, and long-term architecture direction


Cross-Functional Alignment & Facilitation
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align partners on strategy, priorities, and business needs
  • Serve as a connector across business, product, technology, and transformation teams
  • Translate complex business and technology concepts into clear, actionable insights for leadership
  • Drive clarity and alignment across competing priorities and initiatives


Business Capability & Value Realization
  • Develop and maintain enterprise business capability models and supporting artifacts
  • Assess maturity of capabilities and identify opportunities for improvement or investment
  • Define success measures and outcomes tied to business capabilities and strategic objectives
  • Support tracking of value realization for initiatives and transformation efforts


Transformation & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with transformation and process teams to find opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support design and execution of enterprise transformation initiatives
  • Promote reuse, standardization, and simplification across processes and capabilities
  • Identify ways to use automation, data, and new technologies to enable business outcomes

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is $106,762 to $160,144 (Architect I); $131,541 to $197,311 (Architect II). The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance). The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, travel requirements, internal equity, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
